Greece provided a very spirited effort full of passion and commitment as they beat Group A favourites Russia 1-0 in Warsaw to seal their progress to the knockout stages. Greece, who began the day bottom of the group on one point, won through Giorgos Karagounis' goal on the stroke of half-time that sent the wasteful Russians home after Czech Republic beat Poland. Karagounis' winner - on the night he equalled a national record by earning his 120th cap - came completely against the run of play at Warsaw's National Stadium.
