Gerrard is already 33 and he's playing more of a deep lying playmaker these days so having him next to the timid, pedestrian Lucas serves no good purpose for anyone.
Rodgers has next year to make a significant improvement. His sense of urgency appears so far to not be at the same level as the owners and most fans, so step it up.

DM : X. Big buy here. Strootman from PSV.. Anyone seen this guy play ? Roy Keane type, nasty and handy with the ball. Diame from West Ham is a cheaper alternative. Lucas can sit on the bench
CM: Gerrard , in the Alonso or Pirlos type role. Keeps things tidy, good at set pieces and can still score the odd goal.
AM : X big buy here. With Stevie G getting older , the club has to identify his natural replacement, a talisman etc. Julian Draxler is 20 plays for Schalke and he reminds me of a younger SG. So dynamic and turbo charged. Eriksen of Ajax would be a good prospect also, not as energetic as Draxler but more technical.
RW : X. Buy, Menez of PSG , fast, direct, strong and can score. His team might be selling him as they have gazillions to spend on bigger named players.
LW : Coutinho , this kid is developing great . Rodgers has got his hands on a real special talent
ST: Suarez , best in the Premiership

Subs : Jones, Sktrel, Allen, Kelly, Henderson, Downing, Lucas, Sterling, Sturridge is all fine as replacements.
