If you were to be offered a 1994-95 champions league shirt, and were negotiating a price, what would it be worth to you? How much would you be willing to pay for a shirt like this?

Personally I look at several factors:

1) investment purposes; am I gonna make money on it in the future?
2) design; how fucking ugly/beautiful is it?
3) what does it mean to me; the significance of the shirt in question

In this case, the shirt you're talking about fails in two criteria: design and significance. It's ugly as hell, and it represents almost total failure. We finished bottom of the group in the CL, although I guess it's important that we qualified for the CL that year, at least.

'94 was also a year I gave up on the SL and Greek soccer in general, after the debacle that was the World Cup. I was so upset, I didn't watch Greek football for at least 2 more years. So that shirt means nothing to me personally. I'd pay $2 bucks for it. Historically it might be worth about $100 bucks to some hardcore fan, but not to me.

It might not make sense to the seller, but you asked how I figure out a shirt's value to me.

This particular shirt is, to AEK shirt enthusiasts and collectors, the holy grail of shirts (from 1993 on).

The consensus is that it is the best designed AEK shirt ever. This is the first time I hear that someone doesn't like the design. It was an award winning shirt by UEFA, being named as the best shirt design in the Champions League for that season.

Yes, we did finish bottom of a group that included the 2 finalists of the competition. But we knocked out Glasgow Rangers to get into the groups, beating them home and away. At the time, it was one of the club's best ever European victories (still is).

The most important factor is the shirts scarcity. The only ones that exist are the ones that were issued for the players to wear, and approximately 80 more that sold through the boutique. That's it. The shirt was so popular that they even produced a remake last season (not the same manufacturer) which sold out on first release immediately. I know many collectors that would give a great deal more than that for this shirt. $100 is very low....

I like very simplified designs--those Kappa monstrosities in the 90s were Godawful. I'm not sure what consensus you're referring to, but age renders "good" designs horrible in retrospect. They were just too busy.

IMO, the years we were sponsored by Nike were some of the best designs we ever had, particularly the '02 Jerseys, where were painfully simple but so striking.

If you know so much about it, then there's no need to ask what somebody else thinks it's worth. If you think it's so valuable, by all means try and sell it. I hope you make a fortune. As a collector, I'm also limited by my budget.

I'm sorry but his is a TERRIBLE post.

1. What does the national team failure have to do with AEK on the pitch? I personally feel sorry for you as you missed 2 seasons where AEK played what many fans (of all teams) believe was the best/most attractive soccer in Greek soccer history.

2. That campaign was ANYTHING but a failure. We beat the Rangers who were a powerhouse at the time in their home and out with some of the most historic goals scored. As AEKTHUG already mentioned we were in the same group as the 2 finalists of that year. We also played open attacking soccer with europes best and looked them right in the eyes, some would even say that we deserved to win in those games. Last but not least that was THE FIRST GREEK TEAM to qualify for the champions league.

3. Paying 2 dollars for that Jersey is a fucking joke of a statement. The design IS simple idk if you know what jersey we're talking about. Also you don't know the value of those jerseys . The 94/95 jersey , I've seen on ebay go for over 500$.

4. Those Jerseys are remembered by almost anyone you'll speak to as the best designs released by any Greek team and how can you argue it's significance when we were even awarded by fifa??

I offered my opinion, not for the purposes of getting slammed because of what YOU believe. It's not a joke of a statement--it is my PERSONAL OPINION. Yours is equally correct. I know exactly what jersey the guy's talking about, and I hated it then and still hate it now! Some of those 90s designs are like wearing Hawaiian shirts now. And as we all know, FIFA has never made mistakes or bad judgement calls all-around. Right.

Some people also think the Back To The Future sneakers looked really cool, so they'll pay thousands of dollars on Ebay to wear them. Does it mean they're worth that much? Of course not.

Don't feel sorry for me, pedaki mou--I was an undergraduate at that time and found other interests that rhyme with "wussy" to occupy my time.

Listen pal, I'm not trying to sell the shirt. I'm trying to buy it. I have a contact who has located one for me and I'm trying to figure out what would be a reasonable offer. I would never sell my AEK shirts. I only buy or exchange for other AEK shirts. And when I speak of consensus, I am using the general opinion of a Greek soccer shirt collectors group that I participate in. In terms of Greek teams shirts, I would say that group is the most valid indicator there could be. Everybody is obviously entitled to their own personal opinion, but yours is of the very small minority with regards to the Basic/Kappa era. Again, why would AEK re-release the shirt if it was not a hit with the fans? You are welcome to join the group. Let me know if you are interested, as it has got pretty crowded and is by referral only (by already existing members) at this point.

You're a fool for Puma, Amorgos! worshippy.gif

The yellow ones don't look bad but I'm really not a fan of the typography of the names/numbers. At least we didn't have those duct-tape stripes like the gays.

Couldn't really tell from the sportarena site but does the plain (no name) jersey have the Interamerican sponsor on the back? I saw it on the player jersey's so i'd assume it does.

Just curious before I buy it. I wish they made versions without the sponsors though. Some of the jerseys are starting to look like billboards now. I know these sponsor bring in some nice revenue but still I feel like the jersey is losing it's meaning, especially when 'Kino' is more of a presence than the AEK crest.

Actually doesn't look all that bad. How about the sizing, re maga? Last year's jersey you said you needed an xxl if you're xl.

Ok this is the story with that. When I got my National Team Jersey only a few months ago it was XL and bit too big (which is what I based my decision on this jersey's size), not much but didn’t sit as I like. This one is L and fits ok, bit tight but I can live with that laugh.gif

The good news for the other guys is its certainly not as skin tight as last season’s so maybe Puma is listening... wink.gif lucky because if it was it would have been ridiculously tight.
