People hate voting goalies as player of the year. It's like admitting their team sucks and they got bailed out by the goalie. Like how Karnezis was player of the year for the vazelous tongue.gif

been looking at the comments on Sammy on the forums for celtic--some funny comments(I found them funny anyway)

Still thought the best part of it was his usual running on the pitch by accident when warming up and - when Hooper scored the first - just standing there on the touchline looking at the fans celebrating. Big man looked stoned out his face
I watch him sometimes; it's fucking hilarious some of the vibes you get from him. Warming up at the side he gives the impression he's like one of the kids who always plays with the spare football at the side of a game and without fail lets it run on the pitch during play . Brilliant!
And so typical!

Of course he'll start. The useless shit Anichebe manages to play for them every week and he's probably the worst striker I've ever seen. All their good players will probably go now that Moyes has left.

Fiorentina would be a much better move.

Best thing football wise for Samaras is to stay exactly where he's at right now. Now, if he gets a huge financial bump then by all means he should look to new pastures.
He just doesn't strike me as a player that can get past adversity and be adaptable that easy to change in tactics, teamates etc. He seems to have found a nice niche in Scotland in a piss poor quality league with little parity where he doesnt have to exert himself too much but save all his motivation and energies to shine in Champions League matches.

As for Everton's Anichebe, a complete shit player with the touch and subtlety of a baby elephant on the field but nevertheless , a workhorse that leads the line and fights for a full 90 minutes.

No chance Samara's particular style of play will be efefctive at Everton and their caveman tactics of hoof ball , kick and rush, but now that David Moyes is leaving it would all depend who the next manager will be and what game philosophy he bings to that club.

While I agree he should stay where he is, I don't agree with this part at all. Samaras has shown a very strong character in battling through vitriol directed at him from his own fans in a shit league in a shit environment that's the complete opposite from back home (Scotland). Most people, including myself, would have told a bunch of angry red-haired Scots to fuck right off, but he fought through it. He's one of the longest standing players at Celtic at this point, having played with a variety of players, and played through numerous managers with different tactics.

I get what your saying but I was refering to adverse conditions on the field in regards to style of play, quality of teamates etc. If he didnt appear as such a ponce at times that might not want to get a bit sweaty and dirty for the cause then maybe those ginger haired inbred, Scottish fans would of taken an instant liking to him. Must be a reason why they voted him now their Player of the Season.

Scottish football in general is not known for its flamboyant and creative players but more of your roll up your sleeves and run through a brick wall mentality. You enter their football dungeon World at your own mercy. Cant think of many European league with lower quality overall , shit.

It took time but Samaras was clever enough to figure it out , he only needed to selectively pick his moments and win them over. The Italian league and especially the EPL is not so forgiving and gullible. There its everyday you perform at your highest level of intensity. Its why Anichebe plays and the far Superior, Jelavic ( was playing in Scotland beforehand as well ) is sitting on the Everton bench.

Good discussion this...

hahahaha laugh.gif

I actually love the Scots I've met, but they're right bastards.

I think Samaras is an extremely confident, extremely stubborn guy who can't be arsed to care about what every Clyde, Coll, and Ewan think. Handling adversity on the pitch, I don't know. I think if he's guilty of something it's trying to do too much on his own. I don't think he's the smartest guy out there by any means, so you probably have a point there when it comes to his ability to adjust in game.
