does anybody know which division this team plays in and if Bjorn Enqvist still plays for them????

They were relegated from B' Division last year. I don't know about any of their players however.

Περασμένα μεγαλεία... O Aπόλλων Αθηνών στο Περιφερειακό Πρωτάθλημα
Τα σοβαρά επεισόδια που έλαβαν χώρα στη Ριζούπολη την περασμένη Κυριακή, ρίχνουν τον Απόλλωνα Αθηνών στο Περιφερειακό Πρωτάθλημα. Συγκεκριμένα, την Πέμπτη βγήκε η απόφαση της Πειθαρχικής Επιτροπής της ΕΠΑΕ και η "Ελαφρά Ταξιαρχία" τιμωρήθηκε με πρόστιμο, αφαίρεση τριών βαθμών, ενώ το παιχνίδι κατακυρώθηκε με 3-0 υπέρ των φιλοξενούμενων. Αυτό σημαίνει πως αν δεν αλλάξει η απόφαση (ο Απόλλων έκανε έφεση), υποβιβάζεται στο Περιφερειακό Πρωτάθλημα. Αναλυτικά η απόφαση: "Η Πρωτοβάθμια Πειθαρχική Επιτροπή της Ενωσης Επαγγελματικού Ποδοσφαίρου Β΄, Γ΄ Εθνικής Κατηγορίας πήρε τις παρακάτω αποφάσεις: Επέβαλε στην ΠΑΕ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝ ΣΜΥΡΝΗΣ τις πειθαρχικές ποινές: α) της χρηματικής ποινής των σαράντα πέντε χιλιάδων (45.000) ευρώ για τα εκτεταμένα επεισόδια που προκάλεσαν οι φίλαθλοι και οι ποδοσφαιριστές της, β) της χρηματικής ποινής των πεντακοσίων (500) ευρώ για τη συμπεριφορά του Δ. ΣΚΟΡΔΟΥ (βοηθός προπονητή). Ητοι συνολική χρηματική ποινή σαράντα πέντε χιλιάδων διακοσίων πενήντα (45.250) ευρώ και γ) κατακυρώνει τον αγώνα υπέρ της ομάδας της ΠΑΕ ΠΑΝΗΛΕΙΑΚΟΣ με τέρματα 0-3 και αφαιρεί τρεις (3) βαθμούς από τον πίνακα βαθμολογίας της τρέχουσας αγωνιστικής περιόδου. Επέβαλε στον Δ. ΣΚΟΡΔΟ τις πειθαρχικές ποινές α) του αποκλεισμού δυο (2) αγωνιστικών ημερών και β) του χρηματικού προστίμου των πεντακοσίων (500) ευρώ (αγώνας της 20-5-2007 με ΠΑΕ ΠΑΝΗΛΕΙΑΚΟΣ). Απήλλαξε την ΠΑΕ ΠΑΝΗΛΕΙΑΚΟΣ από την αποδιδόμενη σε αυτήν πειθαρχική παράβαση (αγώνας της 20-5-2007 με ΠΑΕ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝ ΣΜΥΡΝΗΣ)". contra.gr -------------------- PAOK 8RHSKEIA KAI STHN MESSHNIA |

Unforunately, Apollon was relegated in the fourth Division 2 years ago! I don't remember when was the last year Enqvist played in Apollon. Apollon was relegated in 2000 - 2001 in the second Division!!! And it is Apollon Athinon or Smyrnis. I will ask the Apollon forum (www.apollonistis.com) and inform you! |

its awful...I hope that Apollon can join forces with another club (remember Xalkidona-Atromitos) thats doing better performance wise and bring the team name back up to the top flight where it belongs.

I hope you are correct. Apollon were a team I always liked and cheered for aside from Panathinaikos.
But, I dont see why an investor (like for example why not Thrasyvoulos management/squad moves and adopts the Apollon name which is famous?) Clubs like Thrasyvoulos Fylis, are going nowhere in terms of potential to grow. Theyre not going to grow a fan base being in Fyli, and their team is going to play in the xorafi stadium forever with barely any fans. We already have an investor! And he is doing well! It's not in his plans to merge at the time, he would find the fans against it. So for now, he is building the team and the youth team, getting ready to come back and stay! Apollon has some funs, but not enough to have the income of big teams. So, he is depending on the younger players. The team isn't ready yet to came back, but in about five years, you'll hear from us again! I happen to be in the management team, so I know the things from the inside. Let's say, I belong to the younger generation of Apollon fans. I'm 39. Our investor is 55, his son is also an Apollon fan, so the future looks bright. Let's wait and see. In a couple of years we will know if it works out!
