I got worried there for a sec, but thankfully his injury will only keep him out for like 3 weeks. Hopefully Samsunspor offers him another deal, he was playing really well for them.

Nah gekas deserves a better team imo.. He is a really good poacher.. Its the end of his career though, but if he does good in the euro then better offers come however his age is imo comes in deep consideration to any club that would offer

When a player gets shown the door from 5 clubs all based on personality clashes with managers you gotta ask the question:

i think he left turkey because the club went down..(only signed a 6 month contract)
not sure if it was 5 clubs due to personality clashes? Frankfurt,Leverkusen.....I dont think he left Bochum,PAO,Kallithea due to any clash? At PAO or in general in certain Greek clubs there are factors and pressures that can not be logically explained....I suppose this goes for many players and big clubs not just in Greece too? |

I agree with Thryleon. Whether it's five or not, it's definitely more than one. Let's also not forget him leaving the ethniki for the same reason. He even opened his mouth on that one.

Gekas left PAO because he wasn't being offered the type of money he deserved and we brought in a replacement in Salp.

Gekas is just one of those "journeymen " type footballers, could always do a job for someone but not relied upon for long term production. He is 32 now so any ideas for a multiple year contract commitmnent from any club is highly unlikely ,so he will look for the most $ he can get 1 Season at a time ,regardless of which team and from what Country that is.
Had a nice Career with a some exceptional highs but was never consistent or adaptable enough to be a more distinguished striker in Europe. Seemed like when the first thing went wrong somewhere, he would not fight for his cause but would prefer to mope and move on. One of the best Greek box finishers last 20 years. |

What's happened? Has he just left to Greece to recover from his injury? I he going to extend his contract with the gypsies?

I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to a Qatar or China even... He could make a very good living in China. They're paying their foreigners A LOT of money. There's an Australian player, defensive mid, decent Australian league player but not at all good enough to make it in a decent European league and he's on about 500,000-600,000 euros per year. And another bloke called Dario Conca reportedly being paid about $10,000,000USD/year. Crazy money. He would also be able to get a very good wage in Japan or Korea - definitely more than contract he could currently get in Greece/Europe. |

Having lived & worked in China for 6 months ...
I can tell you it would be hard for a Greek in China. Little chance of getting fetta cheese, horiatico bread, avgolemono or a decent souvlaki. -------------------- It's easy to have faith in yourself and have discipline when you're a winner, when you're number one. Maybe China, but I'm in Korea since 2000 and what I can't find, I make. They even sold xaloumi for a while here, I was the big shit making flaming saganaki in the bars.

He's small, speedy and gets on the end of a through pass nicely. He does have good attacking sense. The only thing working against him is his age. Maybe Geka can catch some form though and score some goals. I think the Spanish league will be good for him. Hopefully this move goes through.
