My only disagreement would be Sokratis instead of Avraam. I would start the Paps combo in the CB. Especially since Sokratis hasn't really impressed very much and has been drawing too many fouls imo. Avraam and K. Paps(at an early stage) have consistently shown they know how to maintain a consistent aggressive play while not drawing too many fouls. They can also distribute well from the back to boot. Something I was not entirely convinced of with Sokratis. I'm not saying he isn't a solid option back there, I'm just stating that from what I've seen, his form is a bit negative and A. Paps K. Paps instill more confidence in me.

^you have a point about sokratis but to be honest i think any combo of those three will make a solid back line. its nice to actually have some depth where the sub isnt miles behind the starter in terms of skill. as for fefta, he could do a lot of damage at that free role, especially if ninis is healthy and playing well alongside him. those two would be able to carve up the defenses we will see in the group stage. i just cant see santos starting fefta when he gets almost no time at Olympiakos, regardless if he is one of our best attacking threats. i hope he does start because we will definitely need him

Just wondering if you guys have any thoughts on this 11

-------------Sifakis-------------
Toro--Sokratis-Avraam--Holebas

------Maniatis--K.Paps----------
----------katsouranis--------------

Ninis----------------------Fetfatzidis
-------------Gekas-------------------

May be lacking in height up front, but I feel it's a well balanced side. Defensively sound and not lacking in attacking options.

----------------Gekas----------------

Samaras-------Ninis-----------Fetfa

---------Maniatis--Fotakis-----------

Holebas--Avraam--Sokratis--Torosidis

---------------Sifakis-------------------

first choice subs: K. Paps to help hold a lead, Lazaros to help in attack, and Athanasiadis for striker

waiting for the call from EPO.... biggrin.gif

Samaras should play on the left, so he can cut in and shoot with his right foot, and also has wider passing lanes to work with

Great side George, very good side---if these 11 were fit and firing i can't see why we wouldn't be optimistic

I like the side but that midfield worries me in terms of offensive transition. We would have to over-rely on wing play like we have for the last few years.

There is not much to say. Sad performance....The manager is accountable....his tactics were crap, his substitutions make no sense, his squad was uninspired.

I dont understand why greek managers keep playing guys out of their spots..Fortounis is in for Salpi...so the kid is playing on the wing and his first 2 touches....looked like he was just picking up the game. When Lazaro came in I thouht Fortounis was more comfortable in the middle of the field.

When Santos brought in Kyriako...why not put him at Df Mid slide Maniatis to RB and if that all worked out well then maybe next friendly we can advance Toro in a more Offensive ROLE.

What I dont get is that Santos who watches all the games unlike Otto...we are still getting the same crappy lineups who provide uninspired football. Is the EPO calling the shots on who plays??

If this is how its gonna look in June...hesta bring the kids and gettem ready for BRASIL 2014.

Next Friendly:

................Karnezis..........................
Toro.......Sokratis...Avraam....Cholevas
....................KPaps..........................
.............Maniatis.......Fortounis................
Fetfa..............Athanassiadis...............Lazaros

Okay so we are playing anti-football, trying to defend leads after 10min of play which is too physically demanding for any team. We fail to string more two or three passes. Last time out most of us stopped watching and put on eng v holland to see robben strut his stuff. Considering all this, for our next friendly i wish to see:

---------------------------------karnezis

Torosidis--------Papastathopoulos-----Avraam------Holebas

Vlachodimos----katsouranis------------tziolis---------lazaros

-----------------------------fetfatzidis/ninis

-------------------------------Mantzios

All players that can perform the basics of football. Actual wingers that look to get into the box as opposed to strikers converted into failed wingers. Mantzios because he has been playing this season - ability was always there just needs games.

Since i'm in the mood and I've been fascinated with the 3-5-1-1 or 5-3-1-1 for some time now, i wouldn't mind also seeing this:

----------------------------------karnezis

-------papastathopoulos---k papadopoulos---avraam

torosidis--------ninis---------tzilos-----katsouranis-------holebas

----------------------------fetfa/lazaros

-------------------------------Mantzios

Eventually i want sifakis in there, but i'm not sure how far away he is from returning to action. Also no idea if tziolis is injured or is over looked by santos.

@GM

I love the second formation. An impressive three man defense, Ninis as a CM, Fetfatzidis withdrawn behind the striker in the free role. Just lovely! But, I'm not sold on Mantzios, and Samaras would be a more ideal option as a lone target man up front. Also, aek66 is definitely onto something when he suggest Torosidis should play more centrally. If Maniatis has impressed as a converted midfielder, then why can't Torosidis (whose unquestionably better than Maniatis)? Maybe drop Katsouranis and place Lazaros (or, dare I say, Vyntra) on the right wing? I think Lazaros is fairly competent defensively (he can track back and make good challenges, no doubt), although he might struggle to close down crosses or force attackers out of play (especially against quality players).

BTW Tziolis isn't injured, and he should be playing regularly for Monaco, now.

intersting formation greek mafiozo.

i'd make a few switches though (maniatis for tziolis, gekas for mantzio):

----------------------karnezis--------------------------
--------sokratis-----k paps------avraam----------
--torosidis----ninis----maniatis---katsouranis----holebas--
------------------lazaros------------------------
-------------------------gekas--------------------

too bad we'll never see it lol. i think santos will stick to the 4-3-3. so maybe

-------------------karnezis--------------------
--torosidis---k paps---avraam---holebas---
----------ninis---maniatis---katsouranis---
-----samaras-----gekas-----------lazaros

QUOTE (Amorgos @ Mar 3 2012, 12:39 PM) *
I picked the following:

Goalkeepers (3): Sifakis, Karnezis, Tzorvas

Defenders: (7): Torosidis, Holebas, Papastathopoulos, K Papadopoulos, Maniatis, A Papadopoulos, Tzavellas

Midfielders: (8): Ninis, Christodoulopoulos, Georgiadis, Karagounis, Fotakis, Feftatzidis, Kone, Vlahodimos (or Tatos)

Attackers: (5): Samaras, Vellios, Mitroglou, Gekas, Mantzios

_________________________Syfakis

______________Papastathopoulos______K Papadopoulos
Torosidis__________________________________________Holebas

_____________________Maniatis
___________________________________Ninis

Christodoulopoulos________________________________Feftatzidis

___________________Gekas_____Samaras

And play like a football team with super subs!

Not to blow my own trumphet but I think this line up, plus the subs available could actually play some nice football and kick some ass at the same time!
