Someone that saw Anna play 2 days ago said that she has a very strong backhand, and her forehand is good, but she doesn't chase her opponents with it. He said she can reach the top 75 and maybe top 50. Another person that saw her play in September said that she has a good backhand, but her game is too orthodox.

I found a video:

Anna won all 3 of her qualifying matches in a $25,000 tournament in the U.S., and she will now face a tough Belarussian, Tatiana Poutchek in the first round of the main draw.

It seems that you guys really don't care, so I'll just update every now and then. Anna has been doing great lately in singles. She cracked the top 200. This means that she will be in qualifying at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Anna is playing qualifying at WTA Pattaya City (Thailand), a main tour event and she is just one win away from qualifying!!!!!
A win tonight will be the moment of her career, her first appearance in a tour maindraw event!!!!!
She plays a girl named Wannasuk, a Thai wildcard
And I am not kidding, Wannasuk is her real name laugh.gif
Anna SHOULD win, but Wannasuk beat (3) Ferguson yesterday...but Anna beat (5) Chalova tongue.gif
Anna is the clear favorite to win, but she is very inconsistent and often loses to players she should easily beat...and Wannasuk will definitely have the crowd advantage...
Good Luck, Anna!!

Anna won 64 63!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so proud of her!!!!!! I've been waiting for this day for so long!!!!!! Finally, Anna has made a WTA maindraw!!! She'll face 8th-seeded Julia Goerges of Germany, who isn't in great form so far this year, so Anna has some chances to win that match smile.gif

And in doubles, Anna made her first WTA maindraw appearance and she won and is now in the quarterfinals!!!

WTA Kuala Lumpur First Qualifying Round:
Anna Gerasimou GRE vs. (2) Bojana Jovanovski SRB

If Anna can win this match, she should end up qualifying for the tournament, but Jovanovski is expected to win as she has a higher ranking, is a rising star, and already beat Anna earlier this year. Good luck Anna!

She won 2-6 6-3 7-5! And then she played Xinyun Han from China (the girl who almost beat Stosur at the Australian Open this year) 6-1 6-2! Now she played 5th seeded Shuai Zhang from China for a spot in the main draw! I think Zhang beat Safina last year, but Anna can still do it! Pame!

Also, here is her blog:

Anna beat Zhang 64 63 and went to the maindraw!!!
Unfortuantely she lost to (6) Bammer (#50 in the world but a former top 20 player) 4-6 5-7 but it was a great effort from Anna and next time she is in the main draw, she will definitely win a match (unless she plays a williams sister, henin, clijsters, kuznetsova, dementieva, sharapova, ...)

I never updated this thread, but in May 2010 Anna retired from professional tennis. Such a shame because she was having her breakthrough season, but tennis isn't always as glamorous as it seems and the Greek federation can't afford to financially support their players the way others can sad.gif

We have lost many great talents because of this reason. We could have so many more players in Grand Slams if we had more $$$$$$ sad.gif
