QUOTE
A 78-year-old Melbourne man allegedly speeding at 170km/h on a winding road has become the oldest person to have his car impounded under Victoria's hoon laws.

Police say the man was caught driving a Nissan Pulsar at 170km/h in a 100km/h zone in Brandy Creek Road, Warragul, east of Melbourne on January 1.

He was following a Nissan Skyline driven by a 36-year-old man.

Acting Sergeant Carlo Visser said the road was six metres wide and winding.

"It is disappointing to see a senior member of our community being so irresponsible - what example does this set for younger drivers?" he said.

"The man expressed to us that he believed he was a skilled driver, and that he races cars.

"But we fail to see how a driver can be competent when they are tearing around roads at 170km/h knowing that other drivers will not be expecting you.

"To put those people's safety - and your own - at such risk is really just toying with death," Act Sgt Visser said. Both men had their cars impounded and paid $600 to retrieve their vehicles from the Warragul impoundment yesterday.

The 78-year-old from Narre Warren North and the 36-year-old Canterbury man will both appear before court where they face fines and licence suspensions.

Previously, the oldest driver to have their car impounded for speeding was a 64-year-old Melbourne man who drove a Porsche at 110km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Police have already impounded 42 vehicles in just six days from Victorian drivers

'It's no kidney stone,' doc tells N.L. woman moments before she gives birth

What's this
By Tara Brautigam, The Canadian Press

PORT DE GRAVE, N.L. - When Juanita Stead complained of shooting pains in her lower back on New Year's Eve, she thought she was passing a kidney stone.

Instead, she was giving birth to a baby boy.

The eastern Newfoundland woman says she didn't realize she was pregnant until she was rushed to Carbonear General Hospital that night and an X-ray didn't turn up any kidney stones.

"When I went back to emerg, the doctor was waiting for me and he said, 'It's no kidney stone.' He said, 'You've got a baby ready to be born,' " said the 36-year-old Stead.

"I said, 'No, that can't happen' . . . I told him he had the wrong X-ray file."

Six minutes later, seven-pound, 12-ounce Nicholas was born breech at 12:31 a.m. local time on New Year's Day, making him among the first babies born in Canada for 2009.

"He came out bum first," Stead said Wednesday, cradling the one-week-old child.

Doctors weren't able to carry out a caesarean section because of Nicholas's quick entry into the world, she said.

Hours before the sudden birth, Stead and her husband Terry, 35, went to her sister's house for a New Year's Eve family gathering.

As she explained her symptoms to Terry and her brother-in-law - who owns an ambulance service - the two men became increasingly convinced she was experiencing a kidney stone attack.

"Honest to God, I just don't have words to explain it," Terry said.

The Steads, who live in a two-storey home in the small outport of Port de Grave, N.L., say they had no reason to think Juanita was pregnant because she didn't experience the usual telltale signs, such as morning sickness and kicking from the womb. She says her menstrual cycle remained regular throughout her pregnancy.

"People have been saying to me, same as I've been saying, 'How could you not know you was pregnant?' " she said.

"Everyone is still in shock I think."

This isn't the first time a pregnancy caught the Steads off-guard.

Two-year-old Cameron was born six weeks premature in July 2006 in their home bathroom, weighing three pounds and 11 ounces. His birth was marred by complications and last September he underwent a bowel, liver and pancreas transplant at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

But the toddler now appears as rambunctious as any his age, running around inside the house and playing with his toys.

Nicholas is faring well also, sleeping and eating regularly despite growing attention from families, friends and the public, his mother said.

"Two little miracles meant to be."

Friends and family have provided them with toys and clothing for the new baby, because they discarded Cameron's old belongings months before Nicholas's birth, she said.

Oh Grandmother, what a rubbery face you have!

SANTIAGO (Reuters) - A Chilean man tried to steal $80,000 from his 82-year-old grandmother by disguising his 21-year-old girlfriend as the elderly woman and having her withdraw money from the bank, but the plot was foiled.

The man falsified his grandmother's identity card and his girlfriend wore a latex mask. They might have gotten away with it if it weren't for a bank worker who called the grandmother's home and learned she was visiting relatives in Venezuela.

"She acted like an elderly woman, was dressed as elderly woman and moved like one. It was a good impersonation," Victor Mellado, head of client service at the Banco de Chile in the port city of Talcahuano in southern Chile told local television.

The pair have been arrested by the police for attempted fraud and falsification of documents and face a maximum of up to three years in jail if convicted, prosecutor Jose Orella said.

Baby born with 12 fingers, 12 toes

A baby boy has been born in a US hospital with six fingers on both hands and six toes on each foot.

Kamani Hubbard was born three weeks ago with "polydactyly" — a genetic trait that leaves people with extra fingers or toes, FOX News reports

IPB Image

And while polydactyly is considered common, doctors say Kamani's fully formed and functional extra digits have made his case one-of-a-kind.

Kamani's father Kris, who had the stubs of his sixth fingers removed shortly after being born, was the first to spot his son's abnormality.

Mr Hubbard said polydactyly ran on his side of the family.

“Some family members have had six fingers [that weren't] completely developed," Mr Hubbard said.

"But not the toes."

Doctors at Saint Luke's Hospital in San Francisco where Kamani was born said there was no reason to operate.

“It's merely an interesting and beautiful variation rather than a worrisome thing,” Dr Michael Treece was quoted as saying.

“I would be tempted to leave those fingers in place.

"Imagine what sort of a pianist a 12-fingered person would be, imagine what sort of a flamenco guitarist, if nothing else think of their typing skills."

Kamani's mother Miryoki Gross said she was still trying to absorb the news.

IPB Image

“I heard nothing before I gave birth so I'm still in shock, kinda,” Ms Gross said.

Prenatal ultrasounds failed to show the extra fingers and toes, she said.

"[Kamani] looked so normal they couldn't tell, they told me he was six pounds in good health, that was all they said."

Girl, 5, eating herself to death

An obese five-year-old Indian girl suffering from a suspected hormonal imbalance is eating herself to death, doctors fear.

Suman Khatun eats over 10kg of rice, 24 eggs, six litres of milk and 5kg of potatoes in one week — and even asks her neighbours for food.

The girl, who weighs 75kg and is 1m tall, is believed to have a malfunctioning pituitary gland. Her family is too poor to travel to Calcutta for treatment.

"We can not feed ourselves or our other two children, let alone ourselves ... when she is not fed she cries, shouts, screams and has even thrown rocks at us," her mother, Belly Bibi, said.

New Zealand toddler Pipi Quinlan wins auction for Kobelco digger

QUOTE
A TODDLER with a love of toy tractors and earthmovers bought herself the ultimate treat - a $15,600 piece of heavy machinery.

While her parents were sleeping, three-year-old New Zealand girl Pipi Quinlan managed to log onto the family computer and accessed an online auction site, the Rodney Times reports.

Pipi then submitted a bid of on one of the items on the website - a massive Kobelco digger.

She won the auction.

When her mother, Sarah Quinlan, woke up and logged onto the computer, she thought the successful bid was for some Lego she wanted to buy.

But then she saw the price of the "Lego".

"It wasn't until I went back and re-read the emails that I saw $NZ20,000, and got the shock of my life," Ms Quinlan told the Times.

"I called my husband Reid over to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

"I asked him what a Kobelco was and he said 'I think it's an earthmoving digger'."

She called the website and told staff that her daughter had accidentally made the bid.

The website cancelled the sale and refunded the seller's listing costs.

Its obvious the husband brought the damn thing. After the missus found out she ripped him a new asshole and they decided to blame the kid so he can get his cash back. Probably got inspired from story of the pedophile last week in Florida that blamed his cat for downloading kiddie porn off the net.

Dog in Northern Territory given parking ticket

QUOTE
A DOG has been booked for illegal parking.

The blue heeler was tied to a fence outside Darwin's Rapid Creek market when it was approached by two city council traffic wardens, the Northern Territory News reports.

One of the inspectors wrote out a ticket - and taped it to the dog's lead.

Witness Ray McEvoy said he couldn't believe his eyes.

"I watched an elderly lady and her very faithful blue heeler roll up at the market," he said.

"The lady tied the dog to the fence and gave him a bowl full of water. And off she went into the markets.

''Then two traffic inspectors came along. They had a bit of a talk and, to my amazement, wrote out a warning infringement notice for the dog and taped it to his lead rope.''

Council spokesman Grant Fenton said a dog was considered to be ''at large'' if the owner was not there.

''You can't tie up a dog and leave it,'' he said.

I can top that

Doctors shocked by teen's blood tears

The eyes of Calvino Inman, 15, well up with blood about three times a day in episodes that last up to an hour.

While the Tennessee boy says he doesn't experience great pain from the phenomenon, the tears can sometimes burn his eyes.

The first time it happened, his mother Tammy Mynatt phoned 911 emergency.

"The scariest thing in my life was when he looked at me and said 'Momma, am I going to die?" Ms Mynatt told Stirile Pro TV.

"That right there broke my heart."

But after seeing several specialists and undergoing MRIs, catscans and ultrasounds, the cause of Calvino's tears remains a mystery.

Adding to the teen's pain is instances of schoolyard bullying over his condition, which has seen him called a vampire.

"I've been called ‘possessed’ ... the first time it hurt my feelings," he said.

In April, Indian girl Rashida Khatoon was declared a miracle by Hindu holy men for also shedding tears of blood.

Followers flocked to her home in Patna, northeast India, to shower her with gifts.

"I do not feel any pain when it happens but it's a shock to see blood instead of water," The Sun quoted Rashida as saying.

This definitely belongs in here:

QUOTE
Two girls in Adelaide, Australia were lost in a stormwater drain, and instead of calling emergency services with their phones, they decided to update their Facebook status.

The girls, while not in much immediate danger, were both lost and trapped in the stormwater drain. The Metropolitan Fire Service expressed deep concern for the girls who decided to update their Facebook than call 000, the Australian 911.

The 10- and 12-year-old girls updated a Facebook status to say they were lost in a drain on Honeypot Road at Hackham in Adelaide’s southern suburbs on Sunday night. Glenn Benham from the MFS says it was fortunate a young friend was online at the time and was able to call for help for them.

“It is a worry for us because it causes a delay on us being able to rescue the girls,” he said.

“If they were able to access Facebook from their mobile phones, they could have called 000, so the point being they could have called us directly and we could have got there quicker than relying on someone being online and replying to them and eventually having to call us via 000 anyway.”

This isn't the first time this has happened either, as a councilman in Atlanta, GA tweeted that he needed a paramedic. So let this be a message to all of you out there, that when in need, please call 911, or your equivalent emergency service instead of updating Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter. This has been a Mason360 Public Service Announcement.

HAHAHAHAHA GOTTA READ THIS! ONLY IN ASIA! rotflmao.gif rotflmao.gif

Woman, 107, On Husband No. 22 But Ready To Marry Again!

A Malaysian woman, who is 107 years of age and married to husband No. 22, is worried that her husband may leave her. Despite being 107, she says she will marry again!

Wok Kundor, a Malaysian woman who is 107 years old, married a man 70 years younger who is now in drug rehab. Right now she is lonely and concerned that when he gets out, he will want to leave her.

She says she is waiting patiently for her love, but if he does decide to leave her, she will marry again! Despite having 21 previous marital attempts, is seems she is ready to settle down for good. The poor woman just doesn’t want to spend her golden years alone! Who can blame her? She says,

“I am not searching for a man as handsome as our prime minister, but someone to accompany me in my twilight years,” she said. “I realize I am an aged woman. I don’t have the body nor am I a young woman who can attract anyone. My intention to re-marry is to fill my forlornness, and nothing more than that.”

Wok’s husband, Mohammed Boor Che Musa, was contacted by local media early in the week, and he assured them that he “very much in love with his wife and cannot dream of life with someone else.”

Wok and Mohammed have been married for four years, that is the average span of Wok’s previous marriages so it seems she finally found the right one.

Hopefully this story will have a happy ending and Wok will not die a lonely woman.

Typical Greece.

Pelting someone for having an opinion is fascism in itself.

And those pro-immigrant chants make me sick.
