Does anybody know if we are allowed to sign free players this summer?

It's tied in with the UEFA ban

I have heard that one condition of our ban is that we are only allowed to sign local players that are 22 and under up until June 31st 2012 but are allowed to turn 23 on or after July 2012.

In other words.. Greek youth from smaller clubs who will know of our desperate situation and demand higher transfer fees which will = most replacements from our academy and why Jesualdo has been watching it and including 5 or so kids lately from the U21's.

No free agents either unless they are Greek and under 23.

^Bummer, there are some players on ending contracts that could helped us out next season. But if thats the case at least Thanasis Karagounis and Dimitris Kolovetsios should be no brainers.

Good write up from contra on the future of our team

Μετά τον Νίνη, ποιος;

Πίσω ποιος μένει;

I don't think it's that obvious that Karagounis wont continue at the club. I don't think hes ready to hang up his boots yet, and I don't really see him wanting to go to a other club either. I wouldn't be surprised if he does like Lymberopoulos, and plays for free, or at least accept a heavy pay cut.

lol. So true. There is really no news to report. We find ourselves in the position we were in pre-Cisse era.

whats up with the lack of interest in our team as of late. If you look at these forums, we have less and less of the older members visiting..

any ideas on this website overall? it has been looking like a ghost town here on the pao forums and on the website overall.

Everyone is tired if all the bullshit. It's pretty hard to watch something that has no noima. I'll
Keep my eye on it but epl I have switched to cause there are no Friendlies teams can win in their own merits
Everton 4-4 who thought that would happen ? Full stadiums world class facilities . Wat does Greece have??? A burnt down Olympic stadium a worn and tired leoforos , and smaller clubs that have grounds that should be 6 div in England. Then mix in all the corruption ,ball clubs are broke we are about to become the eddesaikos of the super liga allot to look forward to my mate

All good points that you make. This entire league is suffering. I guess the website would suffer under such circumstances.

Our team has been gutted: not much to talk about.

The season for all intensive purposes is over. We are in a playoff for a European spot that will not exist next season. Half the players on this team are packing their bags and counting the days until they can gtfo. Most realize this and its the real reason why activity is in the toilet. Look at the AEK forum as well. They have had real bad activity for even longer than us, and its no coincidence that their team is also mired in financial and footballing purgatory.

Furthermore you could say the games might be worth watching if this league was even second rate. Fact is its a third rate league with few skilled players and little entertainment. Add in that the result has a chance of being predetermined and you realize you aren't watching a sporting event but a bad theater reenactment of a sporting event. I mean, consider how many people on this forum are actually general fans of Greek soccer without a team affiliation. You can count them on one hand. People don't watch Greek football for the football they watch it for their team.

If Olympiakos' situation was reversed with ours it would be the same situation so its idiotic that they are laughing at us. This is the same group of fans who turn on their president and manager when they win 4 out of 5 titles because they lost the fifth. No sense of reality at all.

As far as the site as a whole its becoming stale. I always considered this place like an internet version of the cafeneio. There are people you like and want to talk to and there are others you don't want to be around but deal with anyways. Its getting to the point where all the good people have left or rarely come around and those that are left are the people you dealt with but no longer see the reason to. Eventually you realize you aren't enjoying yourself anymore.

^^^^ Impossible to disagree with anything you just said. Its pretty much mindless kazoura or bitching in these forums. Football talk for the purists , rarely exists. ( EPL forums, the exception but only a hanful bother to go there anyway )

Greek football if its to be watched, is solely for the passionate support one has for his specific club. Its not a stand alone spectacle. I'd rather watch darts on TV than anything non-PAO related.

Goonis, thanks for your post which was dead on regarding this forum.

I have noticed a lot of good posters that have left for good reason. You used to have posters that supported one team but were very knowledgeable about other teams. I guess there has been less investment in Greek football by many people. But whats worse is the lack of investment to make this site better. Once someone leaves, so much energy from the site leaves with the person. Its sad that at any given point we will have two hundred visitors, but only like ten forum members contributing.

We used to have really good posts on here and now they are few and far in between. It is quite depressing when so many people have jumped ship.

I do not know of any rival sites, so it is weird that there is such diminished interest in this site.

Seeing such a mass exodus is bothersome. Usually, Ill peruse the board for something to comment on and see that no one has commented at all for two days. You look for your favorite posters and they are never posting.

I guess the site mirrors the intent of the site. Draw people to the site, but, there is no longer a reason to draw up interest for the members as it is serving its purpose enough. The site has reached its apex in terms of interest and I am certain that the readership will only begin to dwindle. Sad phenomena to see.

Without older posters the younger generation cannot learn. They will continue to speak on topics that they have little experience of, without anyone to lend any information.

I miss the days when we would have great debates on greek football or I would hear about a player that I never before had known about. Now the projected future seems bleak.

If the people that you like to deal with on a daily basis are frequenting the website less and less, then the quality of the site really falls.

It was funny that at one time, people actually quoted this site when there was breaking news. laugh.gif
