Great tournament this year!

Unfortunately, A.C. Halsted lost in the final, but we had a great run and really enjoyed being there and playing verse some very good competition.

O τελικός της κατηγορίας «Men’s Open Recreational» μεταξύ της «Olympic Flame ‘Alexander The Great’» από το Σκάρσμπορο του Οντάριο και της «Athletic Club Halsted» από το Σικάγο έληξε 3-1.

Η ποδοσφαιρική ομάδα «Olympic Flame "Alexander The Great» από το Σκάρσμπορο του Οντάριο η οποία αναδείχτηκε πρωταθλήτρια στην κατηγορία των «Men’s Open Recreational»
Η ποδοσφαιρική ομάδα «Toronto Hellas Football Club» του Τορόντο, η οποία νίκησε την «Hellas Soccer Club» από το Γουίνιπεγκ της Μανιτόμοπα και αναδείχτηκε πρωταθλήτρια στο ?Men’s open Competitive».

Everything was good, real good. Even the weather was the best ever .

There were some complaints about the number of games teams had to play ( 6 for us over 40 guys ) so many were tired but I think that that should not change going forward. Its up to the individual teams to find big enough squads to handle the 3 day schedule.

Refs were good also and we should not use how some individuals react to a bad call as an indication that anything might be wrong with the officiating.

Only annoying thing is that again a few teams did not bother to play on the last day as I believe 2 games had to be postponed ( might be wrong with that ) but it was an improvement over last year.

Overall, brilliant job again Yianni, great tournament ! Every person I spoke to ( player, coach, fan, visitor etc ) all had nice, complimenatry things to say.

Weather - perfect

Format - 1 Friday, 2 Saturday and 2 Sunday good. Plus continue with the late day/evening games - works well. The bottom line, though, is it's up to each team to fill their roster to handle this tournament and sub accordingly - manage the process.

Refs - best yet. Linesmen worked in my view.

UGLY/EMBARRASSING - teams not showing up. IF you commit to this tournament, then you should play the games. It's a slap in the face to the other teams who pay and show up. In our Open Division, we had two teams who basically quit and that's unacceptable - just don't have them back next year.

Otherwise, this may have been the best one yet in terms of folks not bitching, etc. Everyone had fun, played well and enjoyed themselves from what I can tell.

Nice job!

Thanks to Yianni and all the staff who worked hard over the weekend. Everything was well organized and went according to plan. The tournament was eventful, fun, competitive, and overall a great experience.

Me and the rest of the boys (Olympic Flame 'Alexander the Great') from Toronto had a great time at both the tournament and in downtown Chicago where we were stationed. Great city, great food, great hospitality. The only negative I can think of was playing almost all games on zero sleep and coming straight from the bars but hey, aside from a little ponokefalo no problems tongue.gif

Ah yes, the trophy was a nice touch as well, tongue.gif you can bet we had every other person in downtown Chicago stopping, looking and asking as we paraded the massive thing all the way to the hotel lol...

Hope to be back next year. Until then gs.com will have to do

congrats to all who participated in this years tourney. As to coach Greekaus who insists on supporting the red side of Liverpool and. to the players of gs.com, please accept my apologies for not showing up, as I had to make my move to Kastoria unexpectedly sooner than I had planned.

YGG, that was a great final game we played! Very eventful, and although you guys beat us, we had a great time getting to that stage.

I'd have to say, best memory was the penalty kicks vs Hellenic United "Blue".

My best memory must have been the Halsted penatly vs Olympic Flame. Decided the entire game.

Good job to all over all, great weather and of course great time in Chicago. Will definitely try to come again next year.

Cheers smile.gif
