This is my post from 2 days ago in the rumours topic about what was spoken about in the meeting:
QUOTE I have heard that in the interview with Ferreira he was told to give Freitas and Antoniou a taste of what he would do with the team * Make bigger use of Katsouranis ability to be an allrounder * Play a 4-4-2 if Almeida comes and put him next to Cisse * Remove the need for a "10" type player since 2 strikers will work together * Ninis to go RW if Govou leaves * Asked why Seitaridis has declined so far and wants to help him * Asked about Luis Garcia's form and if he is versatile * New CM to be brought in * Lastly IF available he will search into a new CB too This leaves: Tzorvas Vyntra/Seitaridis-Boumsong-Kante/Vyntra/Katsouranis-Spyropoulos Govou/Ninis-Gilberto/?-Katsouranis/Karagounis/?-Leto/Luis Garcia Almeida/Govou/Petropoulos-Cisse The above is what he is thinking of trying out to begin with and seeing how it works. The players not mentioned will be coming off the bench. Since then there has been even more talk of him using a 4-4-2 and I am looking forward to this standard formation used again because over the years it has brought us our greatest success. It all depends on January transfers if we can use this formation or not. |

I also luv the 4-4-2 but unless we get a ACM that can get the balls to the strikers it might not work goodluck to our new coach lets hope we start seeing some balla.

Oh God help us...anyway i don't want to infuriate anyone....especially if bad results may come...we must support him.
He is our Coach now and will have our patience and peace he needs and room and air to breathe untill, that is, the end of the season, or if the Title is lost, antrikies kouventes, de se ferame gia mostra alla gia Prwtathlima, but it was a wrong choice nonetheless, we were too eager to sign for more than the end of this season. I recall the "special one" making bold comments about PAO in the CL 2 years ago and we made him eat his words.... Welcome Ferreira! best of luck... |

I cant believe how pessimistic some of you are about Ferreria. Personally I think he understands the sort of situation he's in and that'll help him immensely.

look on the bright side: if he tanks, pao doesnt have to commit to him for that long. unlike he gays who give replacement coaches (i.e. zico) lucrative multi-year contracts that are a pain in the ass to deal after you fire the coach 3 months into it lol

Let me rephrase then....it's not Fereira that makes some of us pessimistic....it's that eve if he is the best man for the job, he won't be able to return this Panathinaikos to the last season Panathinaikos that was smashing opposition much easier by team play, instead of individual explosions.
It's the whole feeling of Panathinaikos that makes me pessimistic, and many times, ok with the usual tone of mine, i have posted on nioplias thread, that the players were the most of the problem and not the Coach. If that is the case, then like i said some posts above God help us. Thus maybe Fereira is a bit unlucky too in that context, i'll give him that, as a bonus, for any flops for a couple of months. But not for more than two months. And surely not if the Title is lost before that. -------------------- Ξαστερια θα κανει οταν παψουν οι ατζεντηδες και τα τσιρακια τους και οι πληρωμενοι οπαδοι τους να αποφασιζουν για το μελλον της ομαδας. You want a joke now?
I think after the 0-2 maybe if the camera could see the thoughts of fereira: "Ok when is the next flight back to lisbon....where did i come.....oh Gods, and i have to coach them against Barca...damn it's too late now, and as usual, watching these beefs or players....i will be the one that will loose his chair after some time....great, life is a beach for Coaches ain't it?, no wonder i rarely laugh" -------------------- Ξαστερια θα κανει οταν παψουν οι ατζεντηδες και τα τσιρακια τους και οι πληρωμενοι οπαδοι τους να αποφασιζουν για το μελλον της ομαδας. I did see Ferreira next to Pateras holgding and staring at a piece of paper. Either the Olympic Airways fight schedule to Lisbon or he is ordering souvlakia with Pita.
Can't expect any overnight miracles from him but at the very least a set formation and some stability from players. Leto and Ninis when they return do offer more options that Nioplias did not have the past 4 to 6 weeks. |

It's never a good idea to appoint a foreign coach half way in the season because he doesn't know enough about the players and the mentality and there is no time to learn. He will be expected to get results immediately.
It would have made much more sense to stick with Gmoch till summer. |

Sooner rather than later some of us will demand Jesualdo's head on a platter. I suggest that before we do that, we should stop and remember the chaos he is inheriting. A good description of our current state is offered by one of our posters who, correctly, described our team in the game against Ilraklis as follows:
> Team still has zero tactical awareness, formation and players willing to take any initiative bar primarily Cisse and at times Luis Garcia with Lazaros but their precision on the ball is erratic at best. > First 20 minutes was like a bunch of guys were at their local park kicking a plastic ball for fun. > Problems are still very evident, from Tzorvas who has to be dropped now, his confidence is shattered, reminds me of Galinovic, if he plays like that and cops some goals vs Barca he will need a shrink to get over it. > The CB pairing was diabolical again, no matter who the two are they always let opposing teams cut right through them. > Plessis has the speed and stamina of a man who is older than Karagounis. Good Luck Jesualdo. -------------------- LONG LIVE VAZELO-VOODOO-MAFIA

^^^^Good point on Fereira you made, Roulalas which got me thinking..Since Gmoch last coached PAO 25 years ago, the club has had including Ferreira atotal of 22 different appointed, head coaches. That is an average of 1 per every say every 15 months. They have come from 14 different Countries and every one of those 22 guys had his own unique football philosophy.
Its a miracle that any PAO team can have any cohesiveness from one Season to another. Basically its the quality of 2 -3 players that can make the difference from winning the league to being 3rd or 4th and playing shit. What is any coach going to ever do if he has to manage rubbish players ? Having Cisse as a striker can surely help your cause but you still need creativit y in the middle and solid defenders and keepers. I doubt whether Ferreira can fix that overnight. His organizational skills and experience might help keep the personal errors to a minimum but up front you still need to have players with guile and the ability to score. Hopefully in January . Pateras can buy at least 2 more genuine quality and younger midfielders. |
