Our 'ethniki' water-polo team defeated yesterday Italy 12-9 to finish 3rd in the world league held in the USA in California. Hungary defeated Serbia/Montenegro in the final by a score of 12-8. It was a big triumph for our 'ethniki' and a good preparation for the Olympics were Hellas is one of the favorites to win a medal.
Good luck to Elladaraaaaa I truly believe you can medal in the summer games even if it has never happened before. We have a very good national team and I want to see all the Hellenes support this good team we have with very talented players.

For those they don't know, there is the Swimming Sports WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS taking place in Montreal, Canada from 16-31 July

(more here: http://www.montreal2005.org/eng/index.cfm)

Is anybody going to support any Greek athletes?

I know in swimming, he have no good presence, but there are our water polo teams, with the women being silver in Athens Olympics, and men 4th in the world (btw, they beat world champs Yugoslavia yesterday).

Also, we have some good divers like the Gold in Athens 04, in Mens Synchronised 3m Springboard Final, Bimis and Siranidis

I just tried buying tickets at the site but all I get is a page that says that I'm at the wrong address.

I might take a chance tomorrow and try to buy tickets on site so I could watch the Greek women play.

I can't make any other games during the weekdays so hopefully both teams can qualify for their respective next rounds for next weekend.

The ladies beat New Zealand 9-4.
http://www.sport24.gr/html/ent/187/ent.76187.asp

Our boys, now, are playing against China tonight, on 2330 Greece time. They should win very easily.

I saw some people waving flags in the women match, no greeksoccer forum person there, right? smile.gif smile.gif

Guys just came back fom the FINA 2005 aquatic championships which are hosted in Montreal Canada. I had tickets for the men`s water-polo "session 17" which I saw the Hellas match versus China and three other games. I got the chance to see Hungary destroying Romania 14-4,Germany defeating Australia 9-8, Croatia humiliated Canada 19-4 and finally Hellas schooling China 11-4.

Watching Hellas playing live was such an emotional experience because I am a huge water-polo fan that has followed our program ever since 1984 in the Los Angeles summer games. It is our most consistent national team that has represented us in each Olympiad since Moscow back in 1980. We finished 4rth in Athens 2004 but it was really the first time in our history that we made it so far in the Olympics.

Ever since we hired the Italian coach, Hellas has finally took it to the next step. For many years we were classified and ranked in the top 8-10 in the world now we are definitely in the top 5 of the world. The men`s team will definitely give everything for a medal and let`s wish them all the best. Hellas practiced against China today in the pool it was a really a joke. China has no chance and Greece was simply too good. The game finished only 11-4 but it should of been more like 17-4. The chances Hellas missed and the many posts that we hit were unbelievable and we even missed a penalty shot.

Anyhow the Hellenes from Montreal represented today and cheered the lads on. We sang the anthem and before the anthem we screamed "ole" when every player was introduced before the match. Great support and a very symbolic day for me. My fiance had also a great time and was very happy she was also part of this. Santa had 2, Afroudakis George had 2, Milonakis had 1, Theodoropoulos had 1, Vlontakis had 2, Ntoskas had 2 and Afroudakis Chris scored 1 goal for Hellas.

I spoke to Vlontakis and Ntoskas after the match...they were very nice to me and they clearly told me that anything less then a semi-final birth is considered a failure to them and the water-polo program. I begged them for a national team "skoufaki" hat but they told me that they only have one white hat and a only one blue hat for the entire tournament and cant give it out just yet. They promised me though that when they medal in the tournament they will throw their hats away at the Greek fans at the stands. thumbs.gif I have tickets for Wednesday`s match versus Germany but i`m thinking of going tomorrow also for the women match versus Russia.

That`s it for now...

Even though i had no time today to watch the Greek women play, they tied Russia today 4-4. thumbs.gif Good result. I do have tickets tomorrow for the the game against Germany. clap2.gif Man I can`t wait for tomorrow` game.

Leonidas, I was sitting behind the net for the Hellas/China game... Anyhow, tomorrow for all of you watching the game...I will be sitting behind the net again. I will hang behind the net the flag of Hellas and another Hellenic flag that of the Argead sun of Macedonia. Also, I will be wearing a water-polo hat. laugh.gif

Spartan, the tickets at 30 dollars are great seats...since your sitting right in the middle of the stands. But listen to me get some tickets behind the net and join the Hellenic stratia behind the net.We will make alot of noise!!!

Germany is going down tomorrow..
