Mega Cosmos moving to Home2US satellite, Along with rest of Greek DirecTV channels

Rumors are that after March 31st, when the Greek TV package on DirecTV ends, the channels will move to the home2us DTH satellite platform. Home2us is a satellite TV platform that offers various international programming.

It remains to be seen what kind of Greek language package they will offer. I would expect that Alter Globe and GMTV and possibly Star TV will be part of the package.

Mega Cosmos has started testing at on SES1 satellite at 101.0 W prior to their switch to the Home2US satellite platform.

Additionaly ERT World has started testing on the same platform and it appears that it will be part of the same platform along with mega Cosmos.

The Greek language packages have been announced by Home2US. They are:

Greek package I - MEGA ($ 19.99/month)
Greek package II - MEGA, RIKSAT ($ 29.99/month)
Greek package III - MEGA, RIKSAT, ALTER, STAR, GMTV ($ 39.99/month)

Equipment costs are $ 80.00 for receiver, $ 20.00 for smart card and $ 20.00 for LNB

It appears that only MEGA Cosmos is available right now, with the rest of the channels coming later.

ERT World will also become available on this package soon. Rumors are that it will be exclusive to this package in the USA.

ERT World is now available on the Home2US satellite platform through Euro World Network along with Mega Cosmos.

Right now they offer the following packages:

Greek Package I – Mega Cosmos $19.99/ per month
Greek Package II – Mega Cosmos + ERT World $29.99/ per month

They expect to add Alter Globe, Star International, RIK Sat and GMTV to the lineup soon. It will basically be the same channel lineup as it was on DirecTV plus ERT World, RIK Sat but minus Alpha Sat.

Home2US forced to drop ERT World from its lineup:

Dear Greek Customer,

First and foremost, we at Titan TV Inc appreciate you as our customer and we thank you for your business. Since September 2011, we have been bringing ERT, MEGA and other high quality Greek and Cypriot TV channels to you through our distribution agreement with Home2US Communications, Inc. via its SES-1 satellite platform.

Unfortunately, this notice is to inform you that the Management of ERT has decided to terminate its distribution agreement with Titan TV recently and as a result, we are unable to extend the same rights to Home2US Communications and will have to cease the satellite distribution of ERT on Home2US platform by March 26, 2012.

We do not agree with this decision as we firmly believe that ERT World should be available for all Greek people abroad and on all the major platforms that will carry the channel. Home2US wants to continue the carriage of ERT World and provide you with our national channel, however, we cannot due to an irrational decision made by the governmental officials in Greece.

Titan TV held ERT World’s distribution rights for the past few years, and despite our best efforts to keep ERT on Home2us Platform, we couldn't manage to do so.

Home2US strives to provide you with a choice of high quality Greek channels through its distribution agreement with Titan TV and we will continue to source additional Greek channels to complement our flagship channel, Mega Cosmos for your enjoyment.

damn expensive... i really wish a viable IPTV option would come up.

The only good option is for all Greek channels to once again be available on one established platform such as Dishnetwork. When the Greek channels were kicked out from DirecTV I really thought thay would do the right thing and come back to Dishnetwork.

It only lasted one year ...

The Greek channel package on Home2US Satellite platform will be shutting down on September 30, 2012.

It looks like MEGA Cosmos will have to look for another outlet in the US for their channel. Their biggest mistake was leaving Dishnetwork.

Forget September 30. The channels were dropped from the platform yesterday, September 25.
