Might as well keep track of the historic day from an Atromitos perspective in here.

I hope they do something special. I think Olympiakos will have something like 40,000 fans at OAKA and Atromitos 12,000 so they will certainly be up against it.

The EPO announced that it would have the Cup Final take place on Saturday, 28 April, before the anticipated start of the Super League play-offs to give more time at the end of the season for the Greek National Team to carry out preparations for the UEFA EURO 2012 tournament. Coincidentally, the decision to have the Cup Final take place before the play-offs means Atromitos and Olympiacos will meet twice in the span of four days as both clubs are scheduled to face one another in the Super League season finale on 22 April in Peristeri.

Countdown started for the new date with History

Atromitos FC counts backwards for the new date with History. What fate holds for our club is unknown, but the second consecutive appearance at Greek Cup final only makes proud the supporters of Atromitos and the whole Peristeri city, which celebrates again for the great achievement of participating as finalist.

Giorgos Donis addressed the Press this morning and expressed his feelings: "We enjoyed our route to the final and I have to congratulate everyone for that achievement. My players and all those who worked for the club. It's a new chapter in history, another success for the club. I am sure that this time we will enjoy the final and things will be better than last year.

"There's no football without stress. When we are talking about a final, there's no clear advantage. We know our opponent, their quality and strength, but we will fight. A final is a different game, we cannot compare them with previous clashes against the same opponent. It's a historic moment for Atromitos".

Sokratis Fytanidis represented the squad and said: "We are here, 24 hours before the final and we know that we can achieve something big. We have eliminated strong opponents until now and this makes our success greater. It will be a difficult game in every aspect, but we will give our best to win it".

Ah well... wasn’t to be for Atromitos. Started very nervous but got better with time, got the equaliser and threatened for abit but ultimately didnt have the attacking prowess to threaten more and really put Olympiakos under pressure. OSFP also had over 60% for most of the game.

Thought the reff was bit too Olympiakos with their falls but ti allo na gini... Tatos also has an ankle injury from this one. Crowd this year was good with no fights a real good atmosphere.

As for the game.... i thought the second half was poor, and Atromitos played for penalties in extra time and it bit them... cant blame them for the strategy tho... most of us would have done the same.

Decent final overall.... very nice that there wasnt the slightest 'episodia' (that im aware of anyways)

Atromitos.... so close. They did really well. Olympiakos just too good in the end, they scored two nice goals.

Donis has done a great job. But probably needs to move on now, only so far he could take a team like Atromitos. IMO he should try his luck abroad.
