Both Rhodes (Diagoras and AS) teams are in C division South.
And i think there may be another one (If they didnt merge with AS Rodos) in D division.

Like most other regions outside of Athens/Thessaloniki the majority of people support AEK,PAO and Olympiakos.

Would be awesome to see one of the Rhodes teams make it to A' ethniki. With 120,000+ population attendences of 10k shouldnt be too unreasonable.

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section, but i was wondering if anyone could please tell me which division Rhodes' best team is in? and what are they called? Thanks

The best teams in Rhodes are Ialysos and Diagoras Rodos, whom both compete in the C division. Diagoras' once stayed in the Alpha Ethniki(first division) for 3 seasons during the 80's, but since the 90's they've mostly been in the C division, having visited B division several times. I've had numerous cousins play for both Ialysos and Diagoras being that I am from Rhodes and almost all of my extended family lives there.

Ialysos is currently in the D division, Diagoras and AS Rodos are in the Gamma division. Both Diagoras and AS Rodos are more or less equal with each other regards quality and results (mid-table C Division teams).

Would it be helpfull to have a thread on the Rodos teams?

ok, I merged the thread with the original one from AS Rodos. I'll place the club history for both teams in the initial post along with the schedule for this year.

I'll travel to Rodos tomorrow and I have some questions and I hope someone is able to answer these questions.
- Can you give me the schedule of C Division during the time Sep 7th and Sep 21st?
- Where are the two clubs located?
- Do they play in the same stadium and how can I find it?
- Is there any shop where I can buy a football player shirt of one of these clubs?

I hope someone can answer me very quickly.

Many thanks in advance.

Ok, hope this helps you out.

No, not easily. Diagoras play at home (against PAO Vardas) hopefully on the 17th. AS Rodos may play at home on the 10th but both dates are still conjecture.

QUOTE

Historically, AS Rodos were from the town itself and Diagoras were from Diagoras (where the airport is)
Now both teams have their official offices in the town. Diagoras's are in the Plateia Diagoras whilst AS Rodos's are on Alekos Panagoulis.

Yes, both teams play in the Diagoras stadium ("Rodos Ethnikos"). It is found to the south eaast of the town, best get a taxi there, they will know where they are going.

Apparently there is. Next to Mandraki harbour and the bus station, there should be a sports shop which was selling the tops. I'm going off the reports of a.n.other poster here though.

Unfortunately I can't help regarding kick-off times, best thing to do is to ask locally. They tend to be at 7pm when it is cooler but it changes from match to match and week to week.

The only on-line newspapers are both in Greek language
www.dimokratiki.gr
www.rodiaki.gr

Sorry.

Many thanks for your kindness. you helped me a lot.

Do you know which club in Rodos is more popular? Or do they have the same audience? How much spectators will be there on matches?

well, the big clubs (AEK, Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and PAOK) get the lions share of any support. I'd be very surprised if the crowd exceeded 500 max, both clubs get around the same as far as I know.
