Fenerbahηe fly into top spot
Sunday, 29 February 2004 A dominant Fenerbahηe SK went top of the Turkish Superleague after beating arch-rivals Galatasaray SK 2-1 in Sunday’s much-anticipated Istanbul derby at the Sόkrό Saraηoglu stadium. Christoph Daum's side outplayed their opponents for much of a competitive game and have now taken the initiative in the title race. Yozgatli strikes Fenerbahηe's prolific Brazilian striker, Marcio Nobre, scored the opener after 18 minutes but ten minutes later Galatasaray levelled through defender Φmer Erdogan's header. Former Galatasaray forward Mehmet Yozgatli then scored the winner five minutes from time after latching on to substitute Serhiy Rebrov's pass. Galatasaray were not helped by the dismissal of midfield player Volkan Arslan. This was a very good game to watch. Specially the pre game atmosphere from the fans was incredible. The stadium lights were out, the field in darkness and the stands lit up with thousands of sparklers. It was amazing. Fenerbahce deserved to win. They totally outplayed Galatasaray, who now is left far behind, and will be difficult to get a place in Europe next season. Thanks to shows like "Futbolmatik" and "Haftanin Bolleri" that do an excellent job in providing great footage of endless football om TARBS LiG TV channel 16. It's very envious to watch excellent programming, and hopefully the Greeks can take some lessons. Here's the table in Turkey. 1 Fenerbahηe 51 2 Besiktas 51 3 Trabzonspor 44 4 Denizlispor 39 5 Galatasaray 38 6 Gaziantepspor 38 7 Diyarbakirspor 37 8 Malatyaspor 33 9 Samsunspor 33 10 Genηlerbirligi 31 11 Konyaspor 28 12 Ankaragόcό 27 13 Istanbulspor 26 14 Rizespor 24 15 Akcaabat 22 16 Elazigspor 18 17 Bursaspor 17 18 Adanaspor 12 -------------------- |

Keegan opens exit door for Anelka
Nicolas Anelka career stats Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan has admitted he is now ready to sell unhappy striker Nicolas Anelka. The 25-year-old star refused to take a fitness test on a back injury before the 1-1 draw at Arsenal. Keegan said: "I don't think there is any doubt that if anyone comes in with a really serious bid for Nicolas we would sell him." Fenerbahce and Liverpool have been linked, and Keegan said: "I'd use the money to strengthen the team." The Turks are believed to be ready to pay £7m for Anelka, although Liverpool's interest depends on whether they can land top target Fernando Morientes from Real Madrid. Anelka spent five months on loan at Liverpool at the end of the 2001-02 season before completing a £13m move to City from Paris St Germain. Keegan, who confirmed Anelka would also miss the FA Cup third round tie at Oldham, said: "Everybody knows we still have £5m to pay on Nicolas, so you would have to add quite a bit more on to that figure for us to sell. I'd sell him for £7.5m - that's reasonable for a 25-year-old who has scored consistently since signing "We would have to replace Nicolas if he were sold. Otherwise he will stay and get paid for doing what he is meant to do for us and see out his contract." Keegan's decision may have been hastened by the City manager's revelation that Anelka declined to even take a fitness test on his back problem before the Highbury game on Tuesday. He said: "He didn't feel he could make a fitness test. I was a bit disappointed. But if he says his back is hurting, I have to respect that. "Now he is not fit for our match against Oldham. There's nothing to say about him from a football point of view. "We need everybody fit right now and I put players out against Arsenal who were not 100%. But Nicolas wasn't one of them." This one is from The Guardian
---------------------------------- Anelka on his way to Turkey Kevin McCarra Monday January 17, 2005 The Guardian Nicolas Anelka is on the verge of a transfer to Fenerbahce. The Manchester City striker was again absent on Saturday and it is believed that the Turkish champions may reach an agreement with the English club on a £7m fee today. It has been obvious that Anelka, 25, no longer sees his future in the North-west but the sticking point will be the size of the fee. "Everybody knows we still have £5m to pay on Nicolas," City's manager Kevin Keegan has said of the forward, "so you would have to add quite a bit more on to that figure for us to sell." City paid Paris St-Germain £13m for the former France international in the summer of 2002, after Liverpool declined to buy him when a loan spell at Anfield ended. With debts of around £62m, however, it would be hard for City to reject £7m from Fenerbahce. Anelka, who has scored seven times this season, is a depreciating asset in the Premiership. He has not been in action since New Year's Day and declined to take a fitness test on a back injury before City played Arsenal two weeks ago. "I was a bit disappointed," Keegan said with measured understatement at the time. In December the player had to apologise for telling a French newspaper that he wanted to move to "a bigger club" than City, and play in the Champions League. Other outspoken remarks had previously seen Anelka exiled from the France squad. Now that Liverpool have bought Fernando Morientes there is no hope of a return to Anfield and his options appear limited. Fenerbahce, having gone out of Manchester United's group in the Champions League, are now in the Uefa Cup and their coach Christoph Daum was watching their next opponents, Real Zaragoza, at Real Madrid yesterday. Daum has had to weigh up the condition of his 35-year-old striker Pierre van Hooijdonk, who has been injured for two months, and may now invite Anelka to make the Turkish League leaders the sixth club of his career. -------------------- Η Φενερμπαχτσέ, η οποία έχει τους περισσότερους φιλάθλους στην Τουρκία, κάποτε είχε και μεγάλους Ελληνες ποδοσφαιριστές όπως ο Απόστολος Νικολαϊδης (του οποίου το όνομα έχει το γήπεδο του Παναθηναϊκού), ο Κοτσα Νεγροπόντης (ένας από τους ιδρυτές της ΑΕΚ) και τον εν ζωή θρύλο Λευτέρη Κουτσουκαντωνιάδη, καθώς και πολλούς ακόμα. i respect fener because they at least have the balls to dish out a little money here and then, as they did with ortega and alex. I would think olympiakos would have the funds to dish out 5mil for a player, why dont we, we wont be going newhere

Fener is a very rich club, take a look at there stadium for one, 7mill is probably nothing in there bank....
Anelka is still young and has the potential to be what he used to be. |

Anyone have more information about the Fenerbahce Basketball match the other day that was stopped due to violence in the stands and the stadium protesting against a small number of "Grey Wolves" that made their presence, and a riot breaking out after a guy pulled a knife?! -------------------- |

I opened this topic due to Attilio's post in an other topic, for giving an answer
the subject and the description word taken from the message QUOTE(Attilio @ Jan 20 2005, 06:31 AM) Anyone have more information about the Fenerbahce Basketball match the other day that was stopped due to violence in the stands and the stadium protesting against a small number of "Grey Wolves" that made their presence, and a riot breaking out after a guy pulled a knife?! I was at the match. It was a FIBA Women Cup match between Fenerbahce - Ceyhan (two turkish teams paired in this round) The opponent team president is a member of the nationalist politic party of Turkey, which the members are known as the pure Turks (they say so and it's the only word i can explain it), so the fans. The opponent team Ceyhan is a team of Adana which is located south edge of Turkey They have banners with them, they were yelling nationalist slogans etc which is not related with the match or sports what happened then ? they got their answers from Fenerbahce supporters Some of them get kicked out the place by our fans, some of them try to continue violence but unable to because all the Fenerbahce fans take action against them and they can only stay safe by a border made by the police. It was a great answer to this dark nationalist people which has less brain much madness. We are Turks too, we are proud of it too, this is not the subject, these people are making everything worse, they turn everything to problem If they continue to behave like this they will become less and less and will get their answers like this everytime. The match ? we beat them by 30 points difference (84-54) and qualified for the conference Final Four. atmosphere was great 3000 passionate Fener fans which full filled the sports saloon even it is a women basketball match in midweek - 250 Ceyhan (nationalist) supporters -------------------- Η Φενερμπαχτσέ, η οποία έχει τους περισσότερους φιλάθλους στην Τουρκία, κάποτε είχε και μεγάλους Ελληνες ποδοσφαιριστές όπως ο Απόστολος Νικολαϊδης (του οποίου το όνομα έχει το γήπεδο του Παναθηναϊκού), ο Κοτσα Νεγροπόντης (ένας από τους ιδρυτές της ΑΕΚ) και τον εν ζωή θρύλο Λευτέρη Κουτσουκαντωνιάδη, καθώς και πολλούς ακόμα. Thanks mate,
It was really good to see the reaction from the Fenerbahce fans who even dealt with the guy with the knife! I didn't know it was a womens match............ I can't believe how many fans there were. The stadium looked full, although it was small. Is this kind of behaviour normal? Does anything similar happen at Football matches? -------------------- |

Yes it was much than full, we were like two people-in-one-seat
It is a sports saloon only for our women basket team which has 2000 seating capacity in important matches 2500-3000 people could be inside. No it isn't, these kind of things are very rare Of course there may be people who support some political issues in fans of many teams but this never effects the teams chantings or shirts or banners etc. These guys were excluded by us and they would (should) have been excluded anytime, anywhere. they have nothing to do with sports, humanity etc. ps: The leader of Turkish part of Cyprus; Denktas, had a speech before the match that supporting Ceyhan president and the team (i think you can get the point) -------------------- Η Φενερμπαχτσέ, η οποία έχει τους περισσότερους φιλάθλους στην Τουρκία, κάποτε είχε και μεγάλους Ελληνες ποδοσφαιριστές όπως ο Απόστολος Νικολαϊδης (του οποίου το όνομα έχει το γήπεδο του Παναθηναϊκού), ο Κοτσα Νεγροπόντης (ένας από τους ιδρυτές της ΑΕΚ) και τον εν ζωή θρύλο Λευτέρη Κουτσουκαντωνιάδη, καθώς και πολλούς ακόμα.
