Kavala have been a bit of a danger team for us lately, but we've turned things around slightly and had a good start to 2011 with two wins & two clean sheets.
Have a feeling Govou is bound to prove all his doubters soon enough.
Kavala are doing really well this season, but have only scored 1 goal in their past 3 games & sturggling to score a goal a game. With our new & improved defence under Ferreira they'll struggle to score. Tzorvas also in decent form.
Would love to see a 3-0.

We have 3 ties in the 3 games against them huge thorn in our sides this team we need the 3 points tuff tuff game. Cisse seems to always score against them so lets hope that continues good to have the fans back hopefully a good turn out.
Leto is suspended for this game with cards Xristo should be taking his spot.

our biggest issue with Kavala is their counter. Our D needs to be on point if we are to take points. Tzorvas has shown some good form the last two games.

Wtf we are playing this game without fans again?

seems like ferreira will stick to pretty much the same lineup this weekend according to reports in order to build some continuity and rhythm. only change will be lazaro for leto who will miss the match due to suspension.
PAF
Jan 11 2011, 08:31 PM
Yeah same lineup with Lazaros in for Leto
Kavala cant use Galinovic so most likely Vallejo will play in goals. His only other match this season was the one against us in the first round and Galinovic has played every other game. Losing your starting GK can set a team behind bigtime and hopefully we can use it to our advantage.
From what I have read about Kavala will also play a 4-3-3 and use very similar tactics to us, but probably trying the counter attack more.

Govou has a virus/flu but should be ok for the weekend
Gilberto looks like he is 100% out but Boumsong still has chances to play
Today Ferreira tried:
---------------Tzorvas----------------
Vyntra-Sarriegi-Kante-Spyropoulos
----------------Simao-----------------
---------Ninis-------Katsouranis-----
Luis Garcia-------------------Lazaros
----------------Cisse------------------
Marinos is lurking for a midfield spot or Luis Garcia's spot too..

Sarriegi has deceptive pace, he actually is slower than what he looks. Him and Kante as a CB tandem is an accident waiting to happen but the team wil proceed with what it has. I suspect zero creativity with this lineup through the middle so might as well feed Leto all the time to take some players on and cause some havoc if he's on his game. PAO should prevail by hook or by crook but I will have more exccitement making my frappe tomorrow morning than sitting watching this 90 minutes of PAO.

mind boggling,
GARCIA is the most WELL ROUNDED offensive WEAPON on the TEAM..
...at a good age to rebound......i dont get you guys.
Pao_13
Jan 15 2011, 01:45 PM
he has good short range passing, but his intermediate passing leaves a lot to be desired..he has no pace (makes kats look like cisse), yet he tries to dribble around like he's leto.. his shooting is very poor.. add the fact that he is not in shape wihich means he does very little running off the ball (which is the biggest problem on this team and he makes it worse)...
there is no reason why he should start ahead of leto, ninis or lazo...i'd rather have cleyton or ivan...
right now he is a useful as mavrias...a 16 yr old...but at least the 16 yr old can only improve with a few opportunities...

Greekaus, Leto is suspended so same plan but give it to Christo.
Garcia has offered the team very little, Hook, and as Pao13 suggested, he should be behind the majority of our other creative players in the pecking order based on performances, and if Govou continues to improve then he should be behind everyone.

there's no leto!
as for garcia, i think he's been alright as a SUBSTITUTION. anything more is asking too much. i dontmind him making the occasional spot start but we got him for depth at the end of the bench. with all the injured coming back, that's what he's been reduced again.

i think Garcia is full of class.
he understands SPACE and MOVEMENT with and without the BALL.
no as far as his physical attributes his strength is AGILITY,
his ball skills imo are as good as anyone on the team.
mavrias doesnt know how to play...yet....
garcia has played top level all his life.,.
and he is far from washed up.
and he was also responsible for turning the game vs HPA.
anyway.,
i support who ever is on the team,....even karagouni

i think if we give him a chance he can have a field day against super liga teams.....
as a SUB he can fill in MANY positions.
and get a spot start until/if he gains top form...
just my 2 cent

I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong... i would love for govou and garcia to start pulling their weight...
its just at this point I cannot justify them starting over leto, nini and lazo (who along with cisse and vyntra has kept us afloat all year)
paoboston
Jan 15 2011, 02:44 PM
@pao13
i think the logic behind leaving lazo on the bench is b/c there's no depth at all at the wing position with leto out and ninis in the am spot, lazo would provide for more of boost as a sub if the team needed some offensive punch. i dont think you get the same impact from garcia or......marinos.
also, govou has ratcheted up a few notches the past couple of weeks. you cant sit him now that he is shown some positive signs!
Pao_13
Jan 15 2011, 02:57 PM
you're right on both (lazo off the bench and govou getting better)
but imo with leto out there is a significant risk in playing both wide forwards who have disappointed so far... govou is going to be key..
garcia will NOT be getting into the box...he will be floating like ninis... govou will HAVE to do a good job supporting cisse in the box or we will be in trouble...

Momentary lapse of concentration, sorry guys I did forget that Leto was suspended.
Luis Garcia is OK, he is the exact same player now as he always was, just a little older and slower. He has maddening inconsistecyt but also liable for a minute of brilliance that can swing a game in an instant. Neither Nioplias and as it appears to date, Ferreira can get the most of his abilities. A player of his character has to play more often. PAO is stagnant of ideas and needs the unpredictability that Garcia can offer especially at home vs tight defenses.
I dont share Hook's over enthusiasm on Garcia but I get his point.
I also think that tomorrow we will see a special Govou appearance.
Hook

i think hes a great asset to have on the squad,as a spot starter etc,
the guy can be brilliant at times as he has high football iq and great ball contol.
a few years back we were talking about wooter and maric,
this is an ex barce liver player and he 31?
i think he has a huge upside and is worth keeping around,
he can be a difference maker...
in the 80th,,,, 1-1.....he has that big play in him,
.....
im just a fan of his style...
anyway.
doesnt matter who plays now..as long as we win,

DinoPAO
Jan 16 2011, 08:55 AM
It's not just that, he's not just "well known", he is known to be an excellent player. Sure if Govou were an unknown playing like this he'd probably have been dumped (depending on his age) but he is kept on because the whole world knows exactly what he can do. If he can turn it on he could help turn around the season, that's why he gets so many chances.

I think there's a tendency in here to try and exaggerate the positives for Govou because we're all desperate for our 'bam' summer signing to do well. Govou has not had good games his past two outings, he has had better games and shown glimpses of himself. Ninis, Leto have had good games, Govou is still below them in terms of the quality of performance but hopefully he will match/surpass them when he keeps getting better. I don't think we're stupid to have waited this long for him and given him so many chances. He has shown by taking the redesigned contract that he is here to play and Nioplias stated that at the start of the season in trainings he was excellent (before his family tragedy).

ill agree he didnt have "good games" but he did play well at times. hes becoming more consistent and you can tell hes getting back to his normal level of play. if he does get to that level and can stay there, hes gonna be lethal in this league
