Yeah but in the process he relegates his career
Vryzas deserves better than 2nd division football in any league...he may not be the best striker but hes not that bad a player.

It's clear the football world still doesn't think of Greece too highly.
Fine by me. I like them underestimating us.
Plus Charisteas and Dellas and co will be more rested for future NT games.

wasnt paolo ferreira the one who went to chelsea for 25 million euro (or pounds?) ?
yet we had 3 defenders who were much better. one goes for 3 million, another for 500.000 and another is seeing bench time.

not really. he scored a small amount of goals. plus fiorentina finished 6th, but lucked out cus serie a was expanding so they got in or else they would be playing serie b this year too.

He scored two goals in our campaign to be Euro champions and look at how vital those goals were!
1-0 win over Armenia in Armenia thanks to Vryzas &
1-2 lose to Russia at Euro which Vryzas scored to book our place in the quarters.
Vryza should deffinatly not be playing 2nd division football!

and who should be called up exactly? Charisteas, Dellas and Karagounis were our best players of the tournament and they almost never played for their teams. Stelios was also pretty good and he rarely played. Our entire team is out of form right now because the Greek league hasn't started yet.

first off those players on the team at euro got in stunning form after the russia game. the first game was all adrenaline, the second was hard fought and the 3rd was not so good. those guys were playing in all the games and were getting in better and better form.
now they come to the NT game in shit form and are expected to play like they are in form!!!!!!!
it may be some of the coaches fault for the treatment but the players no that at bolton and inter the 2 guys will not get played!!!!!!
if by that date salpinggidis has 4 goals and amanatidis is playing good in germany, why would they be left out.
we have to be the only country that doesnt reward good play. if we did stoltidis would have NT caps!!!!
also last year otto said no player playing for a 2nd division team would be part of the NT, and now we have 2!!!!!!!
ps..........take italy into consideration: they would play totti and vieri no matter what kind of form they were in, and they sucked, now lippi has played players who desereve the spot and has already had quarells with those 2 and told them they dont need them, and they are 2-0 in qualifying!!!!!!!!

somebody said it is like playing for portsmouth......are you crazy, the fact and big difference is that vryzas will be playing against 2nd rate players and if you play for portsmouth you play man u, arsenal etc.....when you go play denmark and there tough defence you are used to it, not having to adjust your game!!!!

Sometimes it is better to drop back a grade in order to regain some form. It is done quite often with much success in AFL and although these games are not very similar most of these sports are mainly played between the ears.

nick, Salp is already on the team and Amanitidis, who Otto is a clear admirer of, is injured. I am no Vryzas fan but who can we realistically call up at the moment to take his place? Who could step up at this moment to replace Dabizas? The only option is Vallas, who was terrible at the Olympics. I like the kid alot but throwing him into the mix right away against Ukraine could be dangerous. Tavlaridis is an option but again needs some experience. As for Stoltidis, he's an excellent player who has the misfortune of competing against Zagorakis, Basinas and Katsouranis. But over the course of the next two years in friendlies and some qualifiers (against Kazahkstan or Georgia say) Otto will bleed young and new players in.

First of all it has to be said that Zsis is a champion, and a GOOD striker...however we need a GREAT striker with speed..! a la Nikolaidis in his prime. Xarist and Zsis are somewhat similar...slow. I watched all of the NT games and the Turkish game..Stelara had some good chances, and if Zsis was luckier he could have scored 1 minimum, however we need a TOP performer in that position..I'm sure OTTO knows it, especially when all the teams we'll be playing against will be ready for us, and will be looking to beat our ass ! a la MotherF$#@! Albanamalakes.
I'm sure he's waiting for our season to start and get these guys in better shape before tampering with the chmeistry and the tinkering with the lineup. One thing I know for certain OTTO is the MAN ! He see's the writing on the wall...we need better scoring to complement our bad ass DEFENCE..we were shaky vs ALBANIA, somewhat adventurous vs Turkey however I was impressed by our poise and overall solid play...1 or 2 faster strikers and we have the capability of playing major NOISE at the World Cup ..wait and see ....

this is what i have been saying forever, although i dont like him playing in 2nd division, he is going into a huge game for greece with 3 goals in 2 games.
this is what we need, a striker in form, it is such a help. guys like karagounis must have quite the ego on them to think they are above playing for a lower team like lazio or fiorintina. and at half time if he is not playing, then off he goes!!

i personally do not like him as a partner with charisteas, they are to similar. that has been my problem, but knowing that otto always plays the two of them it is great to have one of them is great form.
i do not agree with him on going to second division at all though. no player should play for a team ranked in the top 20 that plays 2nd division.

Guys,
Vryzas and Charisteas ARE NOT all that similar. Charisteas is more in the mold of a classic English striker while Vryzas is more of a withdrawn forward. In Otto's counter-attacking scheme, one of the strikers has to be a withdrawn target player that can hold the ball while the midfielders make runs off of him. THAT'S VRYZAS!
I agree to a certain extent about the need for more pace up front, but I'm not sure we have the creative playmaking midfielders to provide service to that type of striker. If we did find a "young Demi", he would replace Charisteas and not Vryzas.
I'm not sure why people are so down on Zisi. I watched him extensively while at Perugia, and he was all the money playing essentially a playmaker role. I can't believe he's fallen that far off. Vryza is exactly the type of player who would have benefitted from leaving Greece MUCH earlier.

AEK Chicago i think Vryzas is a very good player and in my opinion very important. He could play for big clubs especially in Italy but remember he is Greek and that stops him from joining a bigger team. However just look how fast he adapted in Spain and how proffesional he is.
Now about finding a new young Demis up front im confident that we will find a similar player soon. Salpigidis, Papas from Kalamaria, And maybe Papadopoulos will take his roll. But we need time there are a lot of good strikers in Greek football but they for some reason not yet up to the level-
