Aek_Chicago, when we had Giovanni at the club, he was our ONLY player capable of playing a striker role, especially one where he is deployed as the target in a 4-5-1. That is another issue completely however. I dont think Kapsis is that great actually, i think that he is a great man marker. Thats brilliant, there are a million of them out there, and just because he is a good man marker doesnt make me want him on MY TEAMS defense. Back when the promising signs for our defense were there under Oleg Protasov, i was awaiting the day when we finally would see this defense:

Venetidis ---- Antzas-------Vallas--------Patsazoglou..

3 years later, and i am yet to see that defense, and seeing Kapsis name in there instead of any of the aforementioned, doesnt make me feel any better about missing out on one of Olympiakos' best defensive lines since Amanatidis and Karataidis left, and Georgatos and Mavrogennidis were spring chickens.

Like i said, Kapsis can go and get fucked, because he will not change our CL fortunes, he will not be a long term prospect, and for the minute, he doesnt even appear to have the desire to play for the club. I say put Vallas in, at least the kid might get better by the time we have put a decent enough defense around him, Kapsis will just be one more player that will have to be replaced come the end of this season which is why i never wanted him to begin with.

But since you brougt up the injury, it's not as though Kapsis has been in constant pain all season. As far as I can remember (although correct me if I'm wrong), the injury Kapsis suffered was not very severe - certainly not one that would keep him out of action for the better part of three months.

I fully agreed with thryleon, Kapsis didn't turned me on last summer coming to Oly, and in general I am with agreement with anyone who tells that with the 31+ aged players there is no future to get better, so in my opinion Mr and Mr Kapsis, Georgatos, Schurrer, Nikopolidis, Mavrogenidis, Anatolakis, Rivaldo, Dani Garcia must let go free, Jorjevic though can stay for another year with the understanding that next summer he woud be out as well.

The defense you mentioned above featuring Vallas and Antzas I wholeheartedly agree with, but in the present we're talking about Anatolakis and Kostoulas over Kapsis, for the love of God!!! There is NOTHING long term about Anatolakis, yet he's a FIXTURE!!!!!

BTW, I also agree with your contention that Anatolakis gives 110%, ALL THE TIME, and that through sheer will power has become a fairly decent 1st division CB. That being said, he's not Kapsis (and this isn't implying that Kapsis is Worl Class, or anything like that).

I think most of us would agree with this Louie...however the current situation is that we have players making mistakes at the back and looking very shaky when in my opinion a player that would offer more in defense sits on the bench...if you had to decide between Anatolakis , Kapsis and Kostoulas which 2 would you pick??

Όπως υποστηρίζει το ιατρικό τιμ του συλλόγου, ο πολύπειρος αμυντικός έχει αντιμετωπίσει αρκετά προβλήματα με τραυματισμούς από το ξεκίνημα της περιόδου, ωστόσο σε ορισμένα παιχνίδια που έμεινε εκτός αποστολής θα μπορούσε να αγωνιστεί, αλλά δεν το έκανε. Το βράδυ της Τετάρτης ο διακεκριμένος γιατρός ενημέρωσε σχετικά τον Σσωκράτη Κόκκαλη.Πλέον το θέμα θεωρείται επισήμως λήξαν, ωστόσο είναι άγνωστο αν οι σχέσεις των δύο πλευρών και η συνεργασία τους θα είναι το ίδιο ομαλή μετά από αυτό το επεισόδιο.

I agree 100%. I think his time is done.

Kapsis needs to be the second central defender in order to succeed. He can not be the main guy back there. In other words, he has to take his orders from another general on the back line. When it comes to man-marking, no bullshit, the guy is good. But his skills are limited in terms of starting an attack and organizing the defensive unit as a whole.

Apparently he's going for talks in Cyprus Greg, I think Omonoia are close to signing him. He's still under contract with Olympiakos, so he must have a clearance by them, I guess?! It will be interesting to see what happens with him?

what kind of injury does he have, he's still a quality player aslong as the injury doesn't have any negative after effects. Not many guys have marked Shevchenko aswell as him and this was when Shevchenko was at his best... european player of the year.

Bizare! Other than the fear of him getting injured again why would Sollied (or OLY) stand in the way of Kapsis playing for the NT? As far as I can tell he has not exactly factored into Sollied plans. Are there other injuries to you backs that Sollied cannot afford to lose Kapsis?

long story short, a few minutes after receiving the call up for the national team olympiakos called up kapsis and told him he wont be going to join the greek national team and to go to oly training instead, their was also communication between sollied and otto, sollied stating kapsis isnt fit and injury could re-accur etc etc

I'm sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous. Regardless if he deserves to be there or not, they should let him go. Kapsako doesnt even make the 18 in Olympiakos, they don't care about him, and just want to "punish" him so they don't let him go. Olympiakos is worse than the mafia.

Λίγες ώρες έπειτα από την εσπευμένη κλήση του στην Εθνική ομάδα προκειμένου να καλύψει το κενό του Παπαδόπουλου, ο Μιχάλης Καψής αποκλείστηκε από την αποστολή για τον προσεχή αγώνα με τη Νορβηγία. Ο Ότο Ρεχάγκελ είχε τηλεφωνική επικοινωνία με τον Τροντ Σόλιντ, με τον τελευταίο να ζητά από το Γερμανό τεχνικό να μην υπολογίζει τον Έλληνα άσο, με το σκεπτικό ότι βρίσκεται σε πρόγραμμα προετοιμασίας ύστερα από τον τραυματισμό του. Δυσαρεστημένος ο ίδιος ο παίκτης δήλωσε: "Ο Ολυμπιακός δεν μ' αφήνει να πάω στην Εθνική". Kάλεσμα στον κόσμο απηύθυναν οι διεθνείς. Κανονικά προπονήθηκε ο Μπασινάς.

Ο ίδιος ο παίκτης, μιλώντας στο ραδιόφωνο του ΑΝΤ1 έκανε λόγο για τηλεφώνημα που δέχθηκε από τους ανθρώπους του Ολυμπιακού που του ζήτησαν να εγκαταλείψει το ξενοδοχείο της Εθνικής και να πάει στην προπόνηση των "ερυθρολεύκων": "Ο Ολυμπιακός δεν με αφήνει να πάω στην Εθνική. Δεν θέλω να πω περισσότερα για να μην τιμωρηθώ. Θέλω να ευχαριστήσω τον κ. Ρεχάγκελ που με κάλεσε στην Εθνική, παρά το γεγονός ότι δεν αγωνίζομαι. Ελπίζω να βρεθεί μια λύση".

Για να προσθέσει: "Πριν από λίγο δέχθηκα τηλεφώνημα από τον Κούλη Δουρέκα, που είπε να μαζέψω τα πράγματα μου και να πάω για προπόνηση στου Ρέντη".

Εν τω μεταξύ ο Μιχάλης Καψής με νέες του δηλώσεις στο ΑΠΕ επεσήμανε: "Το μεσημέρι κλήθηκα στην εθνική. Λίγο μετά την κλήση δέχθηκα τηλέφωνο από την ομάδα μου, από όπου με ειδοποίησαν ότι το απόγευμα θα πρέπει να βρίσκομαι στις εγκαταστάσεις του Ρέντη για την προπόνηση. "Κύριε Καψή στις 16:00 θα πρέπει να βρίσκεστε στο Ρέντη, διαφορετικά θα έχετε πρόβλημα", μου είπαν. Ο Ολυμπιακός δεν θέλει να πάω στην εθνική, όμως δεν μπορώ να εικάσω τον λόγο".

Σε ό,τι έχει να κάνει με την αγωνιστική του κατάσταση, συμπλήρωσε: "Αγωνιστικά, είμαι έτοιμος εδώ και 20 ημέρες. Βέβαια, δεν μπορώ να ισχυριστώ ότι βρίσκομαι στην κατάσταση που ήμουν άλλες φορές, όμως είμαι σε αρκετά καλό επίπεδο. Κάθε εμπόδιο για καλό όμως. Ζητώ συγγνώμη, αλλά δεν μπορώ να πω περισσότερα".

Από κει και πέρα οι άνθρωποι του Ολυμπιακού ήρθαν σε επικοινωνία τόσο με την ΕΠΟ, όσο και με τον ίδιο τον Ότο Ρεχάγκελ προκειμένου να τους εξηγήσουν τις αιτιάσεις τους αναφορικά με την κλήση του Μιχάλη Καψή. Έτσι στο τηλέφωνημα που έγινε μεταξύ Ότο Ρεχάγκελ και Τροντ Σόλιντ, ο τελευταίος τόνισε ότι ο παίκτης βρίσκεται σε πρόγραμμα προετοιμασίας ύστερα από τον τραυματισμό του τον Ιούλιο και ως εκ τούτου θα έπρεπε να αποκλειστεί από την Εθνική ομάδα.

Πάντως η ΕΠΟ με επίσημη ανακοίνωσή της επισημαίνει πως ο αποκλεισμός προήλθε ύστερα από συζήτηση που είχε ο Ότο Ρεχάγκελ με τον Μιχάλη Κάψη: "Ο Μιχάλης Καψής αποκλείστηκε από την αποστολή της Εθνικής Ομάδας για τους αγώνες με την Νορβηγία και την Βοσνία/Ερζεγοβίνη για την προκριματική φάση του Ευρωπαϊκού Πρωταθλήμαος 2008. Υστερα από συζήτηση του ποδοσφαιριστή με τον ομοσπονδιακό τεχνικό, κρίθηκε σκόπιμο να μην ακολουθήσει ο Μ. Καψής την αποστολή επειδή βρίσκεται σε πρόγραμμα προετοιμασίας και, σε διαφορετική περίπτωση, θα επιβαρυνόταν".



This guy is a fucking joke. As others have said he has been collecting a paycheck for doing nothing from day one. Over a year later he is supposedly almost healthy and he wants to play for the NT.
Screw him we pay his frikin salary and he has not done a thing for us since coming to the team.
Playing on the NT is a privilage which is earned in the last year he has earned shit.
So good that he was not allowed to go. Let's see what he does in practice, I forsee another injury.

Tav's case aside, assuming EPO or the SL has any say in who gets call-ups and who doesn't (seeing how he is playing abroad), remember they didn't call up Samara either for the Moldova match, what can be said for Zikos and Soltidis who are probably the 2 best greek footballers in their position in Greece at the moment?
