Stelios Giannakopoulos netted a last-gasp equaliser for Bolton Wanderers as they rescued a 1-1 draw at home to Aris Salonika in the UEFA Cup. A minute before the break Aris went in front as Nikos Karabelas' cross was headed away by Abdoulaye Meite, but only as far as Toni Calvo, who rifled home a low right-footer from 15 yards. Giannakopoulos denied his compatriots a well-deserved victory with the last kick of the game, chesting down Nicky Hunt's long ball into the box and firing a low shot beyond Chalkias.
AEK 1:1 Fiorentina
Grief-stricken Fiorentina (coach Cesare Prandelli's wife passed away a couple of days ago) were held to a 1-1 draw in Athens by AEK. Pablo Osvaldo gave the Viola the lead in the 29th minute with a shot from the edge of the area, but only a few minutes later the home side equalised with a bit of luck, as a shot by striker Julio Cesar deflected off Federico Balzaretti into his own net. The scoreline did not change after that, and with this result Fiorentina remain top of the section with 5 points from 3 matches, while AEK are fourth with 2 points from 2 matches.
AZ Alkmaar 1:0 Larissa
AZ collected their first win in the group as Moussa Dembele's goal saw off Larissa in Holland. The home side almost took an early lead, but Kemy Agustien's fourth-minute effort cracked against the crossbar. It took until the 77th minute for AZ to make the breakthrough as Dembele lashed home a low shot after Nikos Dabizas only partially cleared. With six minutes to go, Larissa's hopes of a comeback took a knock when Elias Kotsios was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Panionios 1:3 Galatasaray
Galatasaray had lost their previous two group matches, but delivered a powerful second-half display to win 3-0 at Panionios. The breakthrough arrived five minutes after half-time when Sekan Calik drilled home a low shot from the left side of the area. On 63 minutes it was 2-0 when Rigobert Song scored from the penalty spot after Calik had been brought down by Grigoris Makos, who was sent off moments later. Half-time substitute Hakan Sukur completed the scoring with Galatasaray's third goal eight minutes from time, heading home Mehmet Guven's cross from close range.
