PAOK FC have officially appointed Laszlo Boloni as manager of the Dikefale tou Vorra after weeks of speculation of a deal between the Romanian tactician and the Thessaloniki outfit.
Boloni most recently managed Ligue 1 outfit RC Lens, but after failing to avoid relegation Boloni and the club parted ways, giving the Romanian to look for work elsewhere. Reports suggest Boloni turned down a return to his homeland as FC Steaua Bucuresti were interested in signing the veteran coach.
Boloni joins PAOK a month after the club opted not to re-sign Makis Havos after PAOK let a UEFA Champions League berth and now face a UEFA Europa League campaign instead.
Boloni becomes PAOK's fourth manager since the departure of Fernando Santos last summer as the likes of Mario Berreta, Pavlos Dermitzakis and Makis Havos have all faced the axe in Thessaloniki.
The new manager will need to act proactively if he is to avoid a sacking of his own, and the outlook seems positive as Boloni has pledged to bring attacking football to Greece's northern metropolis.
Summer transfer target Adelinho Vierinha is likely the pivotal man for PAOK going forward but Boloni will likely submit his own list of players he would like to bring to the Toumba Stadium.
