Olympiacos FC have announced the transfer of Spanish defender Ivan Marcano on a season-long loan from Villarreal CF. The 23-year-old left-back arrived in Athens on Wednesday to finalize the deal.

Marcano, a former team-mate of Ariel Ibagaza and David Fuster, and reportedly a favourite with manager Ernesto Valverde has cost the club a reported 1m for the loan and a further 900,000 in wages.

Marcano's arrival swells the Spanish ranks at the Giorgos Karaiskakis Stadium as the former U21 international joins compatriots like Fuster, Albert Riera and Javito in the port city.
