Transfer Speculation grows as Liverpool releases Bouzanis

Speculation regarding a potential transfer to Olympiacos FC for Greek-Australian prospect Dean Bouzanis has escalated to a new high as Liverpool FC officially announced both sides are parting ways this summer.

A press release on Liverpool FC’s official website confirmed the news, a simple statement confirming the Greco-Australian’s departure from Anfield.

“Liverpool have today confirmed that Dean Bouzanis has left the Club by mutual consent,” read the announcement.

The announcement certainly thickens the plot for Olympiacos fans, several of whom from Australia. With a need for a ‘keeper in the port city, and the future of Urko Pardo uncertain, Bouzanis is one of many names linked with the goalkeeping position at the Giorgos Karaiskakis Stadium.

Rumors have also surfaced that manager Ernesto Valverde is fond of former colleague and RCD Espanyol starting shot-stopper Carlos Kameni, while Mexico’s Guillermo Ochoa and Greek custodian Michalis Sifakis have also been linked with a switch to Piraeus.

In terms of Bouzanis, however, a move to Greece could further complicate the 20-year-old’s international status – a debate that has features indecisiveness between a future with the Greek National Team and their Australian counterparts.
